Seibon CF Vented Hood for FiST

I got anxious and just had to call them yesterday

I am looking at ideas for a diffuser but want it very functional so considering notching the tire well a bit to make it so, if they did a nice design on one I could probably mod it to be more effective and still look great.

If I do it with my abilities and tools it would look far more rough and racy but I want to keep the car looking great as it is, I am not that into fiberglass work now, to had to much exposure.

I just got another idea, a wing overlay to make it a truly functional addition, not just a styling add on that likely reduces downforce, causes turbulence which results in drag.....it would need to cover the whole top of the wing and extend out a bit then a lip on it would be another good part.

glad you did call!....All the more reason why Seibon should be offering more parts based on the level of interest they are getting from FiST owners!

I'd like to see them offer a diffuser as well....good chance they will...they also mentioned they already have a rear hatch almost ready...

My car is to unbalanced front to rear to run a hatch unless I can take more weight off the front but not to likely, I saved another 5 or 6 lbs yesterday and if I do the hood and Cobb IC can save more but still would be a bit front heavy since no back seat, etc.......

If by "solid hood" you mean the Seibon CF hood "without" vents... that's been available for a while now...and btw...I see on their website the price was just reduced by ~$100 and is now listed @ $561

I would snap up their plain carbon hood if it didn't "require" hood pins. It may be a great deal on a carbon hood, but I'm not ready to buy it to inspect it to get all the details.

I want to see the bottom side in closeup detail especially at the hinge points and front latch area. If pins are just needed to give added security with oem hinge and latch mounts then I'll definitely buy it.

Yes...the plain hood currently offered for the FiST is a great deal with its price recently marked down....

FYI...According to Seibon its not an absolute that hood pins are required and most don't install them...Seibon states this on "all" their hoods offered for liability reasons since they have no control over if the hood is installed properly by the owner...I believe this was mentioned earlier in this thread...

Cool on the hood and I like the painted look with a bit left to see the CF

I am so tempted to buy one now, great deal...but I want to see the vented one....there will be a GB on them but a GB and free shipping.........not sure it will be nearly as good a deal as the regular hood.

I an installing a radiator right now and already removed the prop rod and all the stuff around it, planing to make a simpler ABS trim section but now considering taking out the whole top of the radiator surround, hood latch, cable, etc.....and making an aluminum cross section and getting some locking aero catches and a hydrolic hood prop.

I would have to make my own prop to find the right pressure as one for a stock hood may be too stiff and push up on the hood as I have had happen before.



I hear there is a CF hatch on the way as well, too bad my car weighs to little on the back already.

I'm thinking about this piece. I'm a sucker for CF hoods. I got one for my prior FWD Ford. I'm interested to see images of the latching assembly and hinge attachment points. I did not do pins on my prior CF hood and it worked fine for HPDE use. Could you please snap some photos and post them when it lands? Thanks.

Received shipping info on the hood. Should be here next week. I'll inspect it, but likely won't be able to install it until after the new year. If I decide for sure to paint it, I'll get that done before I install it. My "parts waiting installation" pile is growing. Should have the upper front bar soon. I also have the Quaife diff from Mountune on hand.

The vented hoods will probably be around $100 more, list price, street price less than that, then an intro or GB price for us, worth waiting to see how they turn out

Hah. Yeah. I have a little pile growing here as well for Spring installations. Quaife, mountune springs, StopTech brake lines, track pads, camber bolts. Considering the Pierce Motorsports tie bar and Eibach rear antisway bar. Never ends.

But when the hood lands, could you please snap some pics of the mounting hardware that Seibon provides? Hood latch attachment, etc. Thanks.

It looks like it may be a little longer before Seibon gets their "professional" photos completed for the new hood design and hope to release much higher quality images very soon....But in the mean time Seibon has given me permission to post some recent "phone pics" they sent over to me a few weeks ago of the new hood design they already have completed for the FiST with integrated heat extractors....
