Stiffer when cold does not really bother me as still far better than some trans I have shifted in the cold and I drive pretty easily until warmed up well anyway, it warms up pretty fast as well.

I modded my shifter in 4 different areas, taller, shorter throws, solid bushings, etc....one of the best shifting cars I have drive .

I am quite happy with the 300 lube.

I might of tried DTCF if locally available or found online with decent shipping rates and time but did happen so bought new 300.

I live in Southern Cali, so cold shifting won't be an issue for me. I suppose the DCTF is where it's at. Having trouble finding a local dealer. All the dealers I see from the website only sell motul motorcycle fluids. Might have to stick with Amazon.

I finally pulled the trigger today and bought the Motul 300. Just finished the oil change. Initial impression is good so far. Shifting feels smoother and less clunky. Drivetrain noise seems quieter too. All in all money well spent.

It will get better after about a month of heat cycles. That was at least my experience with the DCTF.

Anyone have the part number for the Motul DCTF? I replaced my leaky axles seals and went with the Motul 300 and I'm not very happy with it. Might just go back to factory fluid or is the Motul DCTF really an upgrade? Just a little bummed that i wasted $50 on the 300 and don't want to do the again.

From what I've seen and heard, Motul DCTF seems to more closely match the stock tranny fluid. If you are in colder climates with upgrades to the shifting etc., you may prefer the 300. Otherwise the DCTF may be your best choice...

I'm planning to upgrade mine with DCTF and will place an order in a week or so. Let you know once I have it in but I live in a relatively warm climate.

I don't think you should be using it in your axles though. Just the transmission.

LOL not using it in the axles. I pulled the axles and replaced the leaky axle seals on the transmission and put the 300 in the trany. I was under the impression that the DCTF was better for cold and the 300 for the warm. Opposite of what your stating? Not that I'm in very cold area per say but the factory oil the car shifted much easier all the time vs the 300 witch takes a little more effort. Do you have part number for the DCTF that your planing to order?

Lol, ya I noticed some other members complained of the same thing and that the 300 was too thick, but the ones who liked the DCTF didn't have that complaint, they also seemed to have the same concerns and hopes that I do. The DCTF also came recommended to me by another member of another FiST forum I frequent. Then when I looked at the stats and saw it closely fit Fords specs, I'm sold now. Just need to wait to have the fluid shipped. Was really hoping I could get it local but I'm probably saving money just buying it on Amazon and they ship fast anyway usually.

I'll keep you posted and let you know!

I just ordered the Multi DCTF, and I have never personally liked the 1-2 upshift on my car. I doubt that transmission fluid will change the feel of the 1-2 upshift (I am probably ham fisting when I am aggressive on this upshift) and hopefully changing the fluid out at roughly 5k miles will remove any break-in wear contaminants and at the very least provide some fresh Ford spec'd fluid.

I agree, the 1-2 shift is so hard to do smoothly without losing a ton of pull. I'm using the Motul DCTF myself and it doesn't help much at all in that regard (neither did the 300 I ran for about 7k miles). Some suggest that you hold in the clutch for an extra beat before letting it out so the RPM's drop more to where they need to be and then letting it out the same as for the other gears. That certainly helps with matching the RPMs and keeping it smooth but you lose so much momentum.

I catch myself pulling back too hard on the shifter on the 1-2 upshift, and if I am more gentle it seems to respond better.

I don't go hard in 1st often at all because the gearing is so damn short, but on those times when I want to go hard I end up missing 2cd at least 60% of the time. It's embarrassing....lol, and I have been "practicing" being more gentle with some mildly aggressive 1-2 upshifts instead of wot 6k rpm upshifts. The rest of the shifts go off like a well oiled bolt action rifle, and if I could ever perfect my technique here then I would feel pretty accomplished [cheers]

I just put the DCTF in this weekend also. Stock fluid felt great the first 100 or so miles after I changed it the first time. It was smoother and seemed thicker but then it settled a bit. After that it just felt a bit too thin to do the job.

This fluid feels a lot like stock did before I changed it except it seems to be a bit more viscous and it's quieter. I can still hear the changes like with stock but it's smoother than the oem fluid. I seem to have better mileage too right out the box but I may reserve judgement on that until I've done a few fill ups.

I'm a little worried if this will be rougher on tranny once it has broken in. If so I will probably switch with the 300, but overall, so far, I like it better than the stock fluid.

I have driven my car in well below freezing weather, once or twice, do not drive it on salted roads as to many mods to mess up, I have a dually for bad weather.....with the 300 it is a little stiff but warms up pretty quickly, I will stay with it as great when on a track going all out 20 minutes at a time and always so on the street.

Yes I don't dislike the DCTF as of yet but I prefer it a bit thicker so I may just go with the 300 next time.

I'm curious though...how is your mileage with the 300?

I bought mine at a shop that specializes in Subies... But as you're in 'merica, you can order some from RallySportDirect.
I did not read this whole thread, so sorry if someone else has already mentioned this, but Summit racing has also started to carry this sky high VI fluid as well.

Personal best, big turbo, wife driving the car following the RV from SoCal to AZ, 41.5 MPG

With the EFR we took a few tours in the Carson City, Reno, Virginia City, Tahoe, etc area with both of use and two 95 lb dogs and hit in the 38-39 MPG range.

I modified my shifter linkage and lever if 4 different places, very short, very solid, very fast, any gear any time as fast as I want to shift but always warmed up first, never misses a gear or hard to do but not limpy soft either which is not good, need to feel what is going on.
