Update on my cyborg39. First off Bryan wins troll of the year by saying he got it off in 55mins lmao. That's impossible unless you're some kind of a wizard or some shit. [giddy]
Installed with just the baseline tune uploaded and ready for data logging. Ken (oztuning tuner) said don't go above 5k rpm...accidentally hit 6.5k because I was so used to my OEM turbo dying out up top and this one didn't lol. Hopefully we'll be able to get in a lot of data logging this week and I'll have a full 93 oct review up by the end of the weekend.

Side note: the phrase "me boosta" was uttered at least 15 times during the install.

Well I had a little mishap with my cyborg 39 this past Wednesday. It started leaking oil, so Bryan, being the awesome guy that he is, drove over an hour to my house and removed my damaged 39 and installed a brand new one. I can vouch that it takes him around an hour and that's with us both yapping about all kinds of stuff. Bryan is a great guy. I appreciate the level of customer service that he provides. He's there for any questions or help you might need. This was the main reason I went with Sourskittle. When all the numbers were leaning toward the X-37making more power than the Cyborg, I decided to go with Bryan because he's a top notch guy and I haven't regretted my decision in the least. Btw, the Cyborg 39 kicks ass. I'm only on my first revision and at 25psi my car already feels faster than my regular Cyborg at 27psi.

sharing is caring. You didn't have the turbo in for very long at all. What exactly happened with the leaking?

Lol just joking man...it took us a long ass time because all we did was look at the turbo install at work and be like "yup got this" and then actually did it a week later. And because I had just woken up. Had to get to the auto skills center and rent a bay early before anyone got there. If a did it another time or two I'm sure it'd take about 45 mins of really jobin' hard to get one out. I'm sure I'll be doing it again as I really want that ported manifold.

Note the time stamp

Lol. I've done a done of these these turbo swap. Not only on my car, but on customer's cars. That's why my "how-to" can actually be recited verbally if you ask me, lol.

Ain't braggin' if you can do it. Or maybe it is a little. I remain envious, as it now takes me 2 hrs instead of 4 the first time.

Got to admit... Takes me longer to re-install everything because I use a lot of anti-seize and many set of latex gloves.

I'll defer to Sourskittle. He was gonna open it up to dissect the cause. I'm just happy my replacement has been beat on with no ill effects to speak of.

It was an error during the install. Totally my fault. Knocked the turbine out of balance. This was confirmed today when we took it apart this morning.

I'm just glad we got it handled quickly and got Bronx bomber back up and getting tuned.

Not much worse than letting a friend down :(

I can only be mad at myself. Besides a costly mistake for me ( totally around $800 ), it was a mistake that I surely won't be doing again while installing ANY turbo again, lol.

I'm hoping I can get in on this, but we'll see.

It's too bad you guys aren't closer to me in Oregon to help with install. :(
I know... Just said that to someone in Cali today...

So... With the hope that no one else pays the price I did... This is how I messed up...

This is where the V-band clamp WAS, which... I don't like it there because it gets just a little in the way of the coolant/banjo fittings.

So... This is a "make believe setup" but it shows what an incredibly strong wastegate can do if that V-band clamp can do if removed. See how it could pull the turbo to one side?

This is how I prefer the V-band to be. Just... Make sure the wastegate is not tensioned or installed when you remove the V-band.

Hopefully, someone will save themselves a lot of Grief and money by NOT DOING THIS.

I didn't realize it damaged or moved the turbine, but... It did :(
