So is there a FAQ somewhere that breaks down what the cyborg mod is, it's pros and cons, maybe some example dyno charts compared to the stock turbo, etc?

Yes sir, I still do core exchanges. $400 fully refundable core charges for everything :)
Keep in mind, Dusty is running the external wastegate setup (currently building the second one right now ).
PM me if you have any questions, and I'll give you my personal phone number :)
I recommend that you make the external wastegate about 1" shorter. The TIAL is just too close to the stock-like intake hose that goes over it, it was raising AIT temps before I wrapped the intake hose. I do have a 2JR cowl intake but haven't installed it yet, it'll be a non-issue then...

Red curves are one of my best 3rd gear pulls with Cobb S3 V201. Blue is one of my best Cobb S3 V220. Green is a log Sourskittle posted a while back, his "253 WHP" log.

Couple interesting points. Cobb made a major improvement between V201 and V220, at least on my hardware. Have not heard much about it but I have logged enough pulls now to be sure its real.

Second point is the Cyborg curve in green, it shows exactly the compromise I want for tracking. Note that I just changed my car in VD (added weight and wheel diameter) to make his log appear about the way he describes his ride.

PS: My Cyborg is being built now, really looking forward to installing it over the Christmas holidays.

Dusty, I took your advise and just last night made the tube a bit shorter than yours. The setup I'm building now will be fully heat wrapped from the big turbo inlet, the manifold, the turbine, the wastegate tube, and have a turbo blanket on it. I'll port pics when we get that far ( inlets are holding me up due to a parts shortage ).
Siestarider, your turbo and all if finished, just waiting on the inlet as well (I didn't want to text you too late last night ).
Sieata Rider, also, buy changing the V-dyno setting from my car to yours, it prob makes your current numbers look way better unless you have big tall tires like I do... But I think by now, we all mostly got a good feeling for how the power comes on and what it does.

Couple notes... I try to tell everyone this... The DHM race cooler stomps my little china-cored TR-6, but in some of those V-dynos, I'm using meth injection ( Its noted on that page with the V-dynos ), just wanted to restate that. I love my meth injection. I'm actually stepping my meth system up soon :)
I may even take a crack at some stock turbocharger V-dyno records with it, lol (I mean actual stock turbo, not Cyborg turbo ).

Depending on how well it works out, I may offer a $160 option on the cyborgs for fully wrapping everything and a turbo blanket.

I have another trick up my sleeve, but I need to make a new thread about it when I have more time.

You want a few actuators to ship with these new turbo's? I can cut you a deal on 5 of them, I got a few extra's on my shipment.

I wanted to do this over the winter but Im deployed now so it will have to wait till next year. I don't feel like I need the Tial option I think the turbo smart will work just fine for me. For the wrapping you are doing are you using a fiberglass or titanium? Do you have the local resources to do ceramic coating instead?

Just for clarity, my logs graphed in red and blue are using my car + my (2900) weight and my 205/45/16 tires (23.3"). I guessed at SS's car at 3000 lbs and 24" tires. If his car is heavier and/or his tires are larger, the green curves would move up.

Its the shape of the Cyborg curve that appeals to me, since tracking has become my favorite hobby and I still want the car to be a DD.

Cyborg upgraded stock Turbocharger system

FYI, I weighed my FiST with myself in it. I weigh 195 pounds. It also had a full tank of gas, a 12" sub/ amp/ box, full interior with floor mats and the spare tire/ jack installed. It came in at 2940 pounds. For reference...

Gotta rider. I didn't really look at it, but you had it covered. I adjustment my weight per when the pull is made. Sometimes my 99lbs GF is in the car, sometimes she's not. Sometimes I have my 60lbs of two big tool bags in the car, sometimes not. With the car completely empty, its pretty light. But with 4 kids and a lot of car parts/tools in it all the time, its more like srt4 weight. My poor lexus has my tools, 4 turbo chargers, 5 manifods, and a ton of random kid and car stuff in it, lol.

Point is, I have an actual scale at work, so its pretty accurate :)

It really is about the port curve. My car for instance, peak vs peak gained about 100whp from stock peak. But stock whp at 6250rpm vs my modded car is prob 130-150whp. While it does give a bit up on the bottom end, no one races from 2000rpm to 3100rpm and shifts.

Adam, thanx for the offer, but guys are either using your wastegate ( or ordered it ) or are going the external route.

Great info! I have been looking for a place to weigh mine. Do you have a moonroof and Recaros? I can't find this info anywhere..

No moonroof and standard seats...ill trade someone my seats for Recaros and re-weigh if that will help ;-)

I see all the V-Dyno's with the weights all over the place, I try to use the standard 2750 vehicle weight then mine but I often wonder what the difference between the moonroof and non and Recaro and non cars weigh.. I just need to find a scale.

Ive sat in the factory seats and they are ok. Id rather put that money towards actual race seats.

I weighed mine with tools, 10" sub, trailer hitch, sun roof, Recaro seats, full tank of E30 and I came out to 2891lbs. My 195lb weight and car was just under 3100lbs. This is what I use for the V-dyno...

I'm using titanium for the manifold/turbine and fiberglass for the inlet.
Everyone is all about some swantech. And I am too. But the issue is the time and shipping cost just make it a lot to deal with.
I actually found a product called "turbo-X" that can be applied at home. It would be time consuming and maybe even expensive by the time the labor and materials were figured, but I looked into it. Then..... Found out they will no longer sell it to normal customers, you have to be an authorized dealer or something now. Which lead me back to the ole "nevermind, I'd just send it to swantech".

Dusty actually was the first to ask about it. Someone else recently asked about it. I'm personally interested in it as well.

Coating the inside of the turbine parts is scary for me though... If anything chips off or has an issue, it only has one place to go, and that's through a turbine spinning at 150-180k rpm and super heated to 1500 degrees. Its not gonna be good. On the flipside, people do it all the time ( I think ).

Ideally, turbine $100 and manifold $125 coated by swan tech and have me do the $160 wrap treatment to it, would be an epic heat isolating setup. Under the hood temps would no doubt be much much lower, and turbo spool up SHOULD increase. Also, our manifolds are not old junk cast iron. The are a stainless casting, and its no joke. The same reason they are so hard and take so long to port, is the reason we can wrap them without worrying about cracking or other issues. Anyway... So best case your looking at $325 with shipping both ways for swantech, then $160 to get everything wrapped. That's dang near $500 total by the time its all said and done. I'll do anything people want me to. If you ask, I'll do my best to make it happen. But $500? Think your going to get $500 worth of increased performance out of it? I think its pretty low on the cost per HP. Make no mistake, I've seen 3rd party dyno gains from ceramic coatings (in and out ), but... I'm not sold on the over all value. Now for $160 parts and labor, for wraps and a blanket.... It def works to AT LEAST reduce under the hood temps. Its low risk. If the wrap simply doesn't hold up, it doesn't hold up. No harm, no foul. Not like you can see any of that stuff on our cars anyway. Its a cheap investments with a real payoff.

I'm always in this with you guys. I personally don't want to spend money on things that are not worth it... I don't want anyone else to either.
2:30am.... Arguhhh... I had ONE DRINK at dinner, and it made me pass out too early tonight, now I'm all messed up on my 5-hour sleep schedule :(

Really appreciate the insight. I could probably find someone local to me in Germany if I decided to have it done in the end but you bring up some good points. From what ive gathered so far you need about a month to get it all squared away?
