Additionally, this SEB would like to update the membership about Solo helmet legality.
"Rule 4.3.1 requires that Snell rated helmets meet the latest or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards. The 2015 standard helmets will not be available for sale until October 2015, so Snell rated helmets meeting the Snell SA or M standards for 2000, 2005, and 2010 will remain compliant for Solo use in 2015." Both of these updates will be in the next Fastrack.

That puts it in the same class as the Mini right?

So, what is the deal with this new class? Stock = Street now with a bunch of restrictions?

I was going to put in a short shifter, and somebody was telling me it against the rules... not having much luck finding exactly what the rules are for this new "Street" class. All the publications still read "stock" class.

Street class means tires with 200+ treadwear, wheels can be swapped +/- 1in on diameter, but offset can't change by more than 1/4" and width can't change, shocks are open (as long as not too many adjustment and same mounting points and spring perch) you can swap/remove 1 sway bar, and can modify exhaust behind the cat. A short shifter is NOT legal, but MAN you gotta be a jerk to protest that! Am I missing anything?

Anyone that is there to "Win" and trying to be competitive on more than a local level will protest if they figure out you have it, possibly even the local level.

The ST was already competing against the Mini S in GS I believe, now will go up against the base Mini in HS. Unless their classing has changed from last I knew.

Negative, H stock is still "Spec Mini (base)." We ARE there to win, and are trying to go to Nationals in 2015! Well, she is, I'm just there to waste tires and fuel and smile... As such, we won't be doing ANYTHING that's at all illegal, regardless of the impact it does or does not have on performance. But even if we knew that someone that beat us had a short shifter, we wouldn't protest... Winning on a technicality is no fun if the other guy is still faster than you!

Still, if anyone is serious about it, I'm suggest CAREFULLY reading the rules, and staying away from even stupid things like shifter bushings that could get you tossed out, or moved to a "prepared" class.

Hai Travis!! So the base Mini and S still aren't separated in GS/HS? I'm not worried about any of this, hoping January brings the Pierce Motorsports chassis brace and will be looking at a few other small mods for mine as I just don't have the money to compete on most any level in autocross, even stock class.

For the price of that brace, you could enter 3 events...Peters proved that the bone-Stock FiST on stock tires is competitive, and it will only get better in Jan with the move to H Street. I think Peters showed us all that seat time matters more than bolt-ons!!

Very true, but I just want to do a few things to the car and build it my way not being burdened with rules. Also, entry fees are nothing, its going through a set of tires every year, at 5500miles I have 40% tread left...[confuse]

With the street aka stock class there is one sway bar allowed I believe. If I'm wrong then shoot me, but does any one know or has anyone tried either end and which has better benefit?

I have the Eibach FSB. I am in the mindset that it helps keep the front wheels flat

A larger rear sway only helps while both wheels are on the ground. Our FiST tripods so much bone stock that I don't see the point, so we added an Eibach front sway as an experiment. It's working out great! It makes the car faster....but only if you drive it correctly. The stock setup allows me to overdrive the car pretty badly with (relatively) limited consequences. With the larger front sway, the car will punish you a lot more once you start to exceed the optimum slip angle at the front of the car, or if you mix too much throttle with too much steering angle. Long story short, it rewards my wife's (consistent, precise and FAST!) driving style, but punishes mine. I'm sloppier, more aggressive, and less consistent, so I thought it was a little more fun to autox with the stock bar.

On the street, the bar is fantastic!!! Overall, I'd recommend it.

One last thing...just because the "conventional wisdow" says that fwd=add more rear bar, and rwd=add front bar (or the corollary that on fwd, more front bar = more understeer) doesn't mean it's always true. Seriously. My wife pax'd 1000 in her PAX class three events in a row....how bad could it be?

I am running the rear bar, I did all last season. True, it doesn't help unless the tires are on the ground, but it felt better in transition and in Slaloms then it did without IMO. My car actually felt more neutral then I have heard others say.

I'm hoping the Koni yellows will help a little bit with the body roll.

It's kind of a stupid thing, but your exhaust has to exit out the rear of your car, so you can't just have it dump after the cat (to save weight of course)

The front bar made a massive difference in body roll and transitional response. 24-pace+ slaloms are now WOT in 3rd gear for my wife....she had a Nat'l champ sitting shotgun during Time-Onlys (unscored fun runs) and he was SHOCKED at how quickly she could hustle the car through the slaloms.

We are planning on running the front Konis almost soft in rebound (compression damping is already significantly reduced compared with stock) and the rears maybe a half turn out from full stiff. Should help mitigate the small negative effects from the front bar, as well as re-balance the car a bit.
