I only watched the CAI videos. Didn't see anything funny or suspect about the subject matter. I know they have a "schtick" with their delivery but if you can point out what's wrong with their CAI tests I'll be more wary in the future.

I just posted the video where they "mythbusted" a CAI (above) installed on a NA engine...I always thought they were just goofs ever since I saw the video where they installed a BOV on a NA engine car! Its funny as hell!

The problem I have is that they install a CAI on "one" NA vehicle and draw the conclusion that CAI's are pretty much useless on "all" vehicles...

Here's the one with the Turbo. Again they're trying to be funny in their delivery of the subject matter but is that really cause enough to dismiss the tests?

They will go to extremes to prove a point (which might come across as comedic), I mean, who would install a CAI outside of a car? but I'm not sure if it's "hilariously funny, that I can't take them seriously" funny.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that just because this was demonstrated on "one" particular type vehicle doesn't imply this is generally the case....Some vehicles may show no improvement whatsoever where other vehicles (depending on stock setup) show significant improvements...Having seen many of their videos they are quite amusing and enlightening...but most of their topics seem to be just relevant to one particular vehicle under test...and some videos they have posted are down right goofy which I don't take very serious...That said, I personally wouldn't make any sweeping generalized statements regarding CAI's based on their videos...

I will say our FiST seems to have a very well designed stock intake system to begin with and installing any aftermarket CAI on a FiST with the stock turbo really isn't going to add much if anything....

It does, the increased surface area allows more air to come in. Also which airbox mod is everyone referring to? Is it just drilling out a hole on the bottom and running a hose under the bumper?
It has the potential for more airflow. The intake is only as big as its smallest part.

I agree. I know that if you put a CAI on a Civic si that you will gain power under the curve and peak.

They do sound good! I just wanted to see the heat shield that AEM uses :)
Its similar to injens. Its aluminum so is the tube. And you cannot reuse the stock air duct. This is a true Hot air intake. Will be removing it for the summer and buying cobbs.

what is the point of the shield on the bottom? What if you took that off and diy something so that the filter is father down in the engine bay?

I guess to prevent water and debris coming up into the filter since the bottom is open.

If it's water I understand but debris should be protected or deflected by the filter right? Now the stupid question if your not driving through a lake wouldn't some water help keep your engine cooler? If not why do they sell water/methonal kits? I think I will take the heat shield off and extend the filter farther down in the engine bay. Maybe use the heat shield on top of it to keep the engine heat away.

Stock box here! Whoo!
Stock box is a great box! I really like the "ram air" duct from the grill to the box. After looking high and low and almost pulling the trigger on the COBB, I decided to keep my drilled out bottom, and just replace the mid section with the Mountune Induction pipe. I also like the turbo inlet pipe's secured worm clamp and heat shielding!

Just ordered the Injen intake. When it gets here then I get to see how it all works out. My car is gonna be making all kinds of noises by the end of this.
COBB Cat-back, Boomba BOV, and now Injen intake. Next up on the list: Downpipe.

When I finally got my hands on the COBB AP it's gonna be awesome!

Hi guys. Sorry if it's been posted before, but I couldn't find a clear answer anywhere. I'm a the owner of a brand new FiST, and I just ordered the Injen CAI and Boomba BOV adaptor. I heard from a couple Youtube commenters that if I install an aftermarket intake, I will lose the effect of the sound symposer. Is that true? Can you guys with a modified intake still hear the sound symposer? I really like the low rumble and don't want to lose it...

Sound symposer will still be functional and work same as before.
It is on the intake right before the it goes into the manifold.
You may not hear it as much once you open up your air intake but it will still bethere till you take it out.

Ok thanks for clarifying. Is the reason I will not hear it as much because the air intake itself is much noisier and muffles the sound of the symposer or another reason?
