Here are some pics of my attempts to both increase intake air to my Mountune lower air intake hose (I hated tucking it up under the fog light) and in order to match appearance, a future oil cooler intake (passenger side) if I ever get there. I used the same black anodized aluminum mesh to "bug screen" Cobb IC. Used black ABS under vents so no white would show, and to give myself a flange connection I could install and remove separately from cowl. Overall look is subtle, not obvious.
Logged 3rd gear pulls show no change in performance or intake air parameters, so maybe all I got is functional vents and bug protection for IC. I left a 1" gap between drivers side fog light vent and Mountune lower air hose for positive drainage, might play with that in the future.
Also, having watched the various intake air parameters closely, I suspect the Mountune aluminum air box heats up in the engine compartment and keeps intake air a little hotter than the OEM box might, but have not replumbed OEM to find out. For example, my ambient may read 88 F, intake air 94 F, charge air 92 F. Just driving around here in S. Fla.
I also suspect the hottest ambient air is next to pavement, down where my second intake is, so do not expect it to do much unless moving pretty fast. I also wonder if adding high pressure points where I did has other unintended side effects, but cannot perceive them yet
