Skittle's car was running great last night considering the conditions and low PSI. And its still very conservative on timing so I expect his car to be an animal when its done. Everyone pitch in a few $ so we can get him up and going again[wink] Keep in mind he is doing all of this out of his own pocket for all of us.

One more question:)

I have seen it posted but did not find the final answer.

The line from the top of the TB, at the base of the intake manifold, that feeds to the air intake right after the filter and to what might be the fuel vapor line, etc....can we leave it off, sealed of course, with no ill effects, perhaps a benifit?

I would not mind skipping that part on my sealed CAI I am building right now. I already have to port the big valve cover line in and near it the MAF sensor will be mounted so it would be nice to not have to add one more port in the area but I will if I have to.

Thanks:)
Rick

Never really got to the bottom of why that line is there. It does bleed off boost from the IC pipe pre TB, but its linked to the EVAP system as well.
Blocking the line from the IC pipe probably won't affect anything but I would reconnect the other end to the intake pipe so the EVAP can vent if boost pressure leaks past the check valve on the TB and you should be ok.

I bought a part today, $1.38, to hook it up if needed, options were brass or ABS, I picked ABS because it weighs much less:)

I did notice it went to the Evap line, just forgot the name when I posted this, really an odd tie in but then I am not an engineer dealing the complexity of modern engines and regulations.

Dang buddy, moving is a pain in the ass, I have done it more times than I can recall and did not have 4 kids to watch!!!!!!

I would be there in a heart beat and bring my wife to watch the kids if you were not so far away, really.

-----------------

I just told my wife this and asked if she would watch the kids and she said "oh yeah" I love kids, with a great big smile, she does love kids and kids love her, very much so on both sides:)

I guess I am very lucky, I am porting the WG while my wife is cooking some great smelling food, I am quite spoiled by her:)

"car guy erotic" :):):)

-------------------------------

I just finished porting the WG and the turbine outlet today and a bit more on the inlet from the exhaust manifold and polished it up in the important areas but sure not easy to get great pics, looks far better in person. I will work on the pics, maybe I can edit them before posting.

I spent a lot of time on the turbine outlet, 5 times more than the rest of the work including taking the turbo off and putting it back on, with the clip and this mod I cannot imagine any more to gain except more clip but that might lead to to much lag which is the last thing I want to live with.

I figured this was going to go pretty quickly but alas, it always takes longer than expected but I also take it to a level few would do, I know the little fine tweaks do not mean much except if you treat the whole project, they whole car this way, it does pay off but would cost a fortune if not for DIY.

Tomorrow I will finish up the sealed CAI and then start on the solid boost tubes, I might just get it all done by the evening, if all goes well that is.

The area right at the tip of the turbine wheels opens up greatly and is now near mirror polished then as it opens more I cleaned up all the rough bumps but it looks far better in person, as it opened up all the way I only cleaned it up on that side of the WG housing and still put in quite a bit of time on that part of the porting.

The WG is close to mirror polished inside nearest the flap and the inlet from the exhaust is like that as far as I could get into it. I do not see any more gain in these areas so done with that part.

The only thing left this turbo seems it could benefit from is the billet insert which as mentioned I will do if my results are close to my needs but if not close enough then I will pass on that but if I go EFR I will send it off to have done if the buyer wants to pay for it.

I really, really, really hope this modded turbo, very well ported manifold, 2" intake to compressor, true 3" DP and exhaust, real sealed CAI with duct mounted intake, 2" compressor outlet, J-Line IC, everything ported, heat treated, air flow, cooling mods, will take care of my needs and I have a feeling it just might do that:)
