My combo of Cobb charge pipe kit & Mishimoto J-Line FMIC produces a beautiful turbo whine that had me actually remove my Boomba BOV adapter. I love that turbo spooling sound!

I have had the Mountune hard pipe installed for almost a year now, at least since they were first brought to the US.
I have heard no additional noise using it.
As Brian has said, don't expect much in the way of gains but it can't hurt.

I just purchased the mountune intake pipe + drop in filter. I did notice a bit of sound, not much but just a bit lol.

If I get the mountune hotside charge pipe will there be an additional increase engine/turbo noise since the resonator will be removed? Is it even worth forking out the $120 or so?

If you get an intake with an open filter you'll have all the sound you need. I know the stock airbox is pretty well designed but if you're looking for sounds get a different intake

If your looking to keep the temps down and increase the turbo spool/bov noise, i think you were better off with a COBB intake or CPE.

MAPerformance has the Mountune boost silicone hoses and hard pipe for $399.00. Next week Velossa Tech is releasing a ram air intake snorkel that will fit the Mountune or OEM airbox. This should provide excellent cooling. If you want lots of sound, I have a 2JR cowl intake with all the fittings I'll be selling next week. Too much noise for me.

Coming late to the discussion, but let me say this. The intercooler/charge pipe/ silicone hoses upgrades won't make more power, but instead will help keep one from LOSING power. Flimsy hoses can collapse, the intercooler get heat soaked, accordioning cause turbulence, all of which can ROB power. Is it noticeable without monitoring equipment? Probably not unless you're using your car for competition purposes. Does it make you happy? YES.

I know this is an old thread, but I just installed my Mishimoto FMIC charge pipes and I'm now seeing .8 psi more maximum boost. Previously my max boost was 23.09, with the charge pipes it hit 23.90. I'm running a Cyborg turbo, so I don't know if you will see a difference running the stock turbo, but thought I'd mention it.

I can't say for certain if no gains or benefits are gained on the stock turbo since I've only installed once I upgraded the turbo. I would surmise the benefits should still be present on stock turbo since the stock turbo on a protune has hit 26psi of boost while I only hit 23psi with the upgrade. I must say the quality of the Mishimoto setup is fabulous. The packaging and all the clamps and hoses provided, plus it comes with a symposer delete if you want to use it.

I don't think charge pipes are necessary on a stock turbo, the limiting factor is the compressor outlet which has ~1.25" OD. I've also seen someone do some broscience and say that with the stock hotside pipes resonator that they didn't want to get an OCC because the stock pipe stopped oil from doing bad things. That being said, both the hot side pipe and OCC will probably get added at some point to my car...

I came to that conclusion from reading the chargepipes are not needed with the stock turbo. I guess unless you want ever ounce out of it you could do it but I'm sure you don't get a good value for your money doing that.

Thought I'd update. Now hitting 24.30 psi of boost. Same temp same roads. So I've gained 1.3 psi of max boost just from switching charge pipes. Happy with my purchase.

Since boost is a measure of restriction, wouldn't you want to see less boost with the upgraded charge pipes? I would think the difference between 23psi and 24psi could be due to correction factors in the ECU anyways.

Adam stated that my wastegate was tapped out and that's why I was only seeing 23psi max. Since hen the only thing I've changed is the charge pipes. Charge pipes are.5" and .75" wider diameter than stock, plus they're aluminum. Since the install boost is up over 1psi. If it were a restriction, I'm sure I wouldn't feel the difference, and you can feel the difference. I'm going to do a few dyno pulls today to see.

I'm on a hybrid turbo too, and I have the Cobb charge pipes plus Tune+ upgraded WGA. I hit 26.78 max psi last weekend and when outside temps were in the low 80's. We've had a lot of rain in TX over the last week, and it has helped to cool the temps down some.

Prior to what I hit last weekend and with the X37, I was typically hitting 25.98 to 26.22 max psi and I was chalking it up to the hot 100F summer temps. Looking forward to turbo weather when Fall finally arrives.
