Weighed the car today, did not adjust the corner weight as not finished with some of the build yet, all mods are listed up to date on the first post on this thread.

With 5/8 tank of gas, I realized I was leaning on the car a bit when I took this, it was actually 2568 lbs

With me in the car.

I have a very close estimate of finished weight as I have weight most all the parts, etc....2618 which will include very carefully done and effective sound deadening, 12" sub, amp, processor, etc...track weight will be back down to around 2568 as the audio will be modular and quick disconnect setup, race wheels and tires 24lbs lighter, etc.....

For a car with sunroof, nav, Recaro seats, LSD, oil cooler and parts, OCC, etc....pretty dang good.

----------------

When I get the rest of the mods finished I will do a corner balance setup using the scales which tell me all I need to know to make the adjustments.

I will have a race setting and then see how the street setting looks but those mods are all in the rear and middle of the car so will make very little if any adjustments needed which will make it easier, just one setting:)

I just started the Mishimoto radiator install, it is not a bolt in, takes a bit of commitment.....and I decided to go a bit more all out and cut out the bottom of the radiator support so I can lower it more and allow better flow through the IC and radiator.

I will also seal up the input side to the AC condenser and radiator where it is a bit wider to ensure all air possible goes through it.

I will have pics, taking them as I go.

This is turning into a bit more effort than I thought it might be but I am also doing a more intense install than I could get away with but it will sit lower, seal up better, flow better...it is becoming more a race level install in the way of cutting things out of the way, ducting, etc....not a DIY most would probably do to their cars.

I vote we all get after Mishimoto to make a bolt in unit though I won't need it many will:)

Absolutely:) I love zip ties, pop rivets, rivnuts, ABS sheet, Alumalite and even use bailing wire on occasion...

I only use push on hose and fittings, lighter, easier to work with, does not cause wear on other parts but I also either use SS wire, hose clamps or when it fits, my favorite, PEX tool and rings.

I use my welder a great deal, one place I have done on more than one car, struts to knuckles on ones that just would not stay in place due to slotted design, just a tack weld that is easy to cut through if have to adjust or take it apart later. I thought I might have to on this car but the bolts are very beefy and I tightened them really well and then wedged some shims in place...

My first and last track outing of the year on this car went exceedingly well due to going over every nut and bolt at least 3 times, test runs on back roads hitting every bump I came across, pounding on the brakes at the end of tuning runs, had the track tires on for some of this. I had to issues, one tire lost a bit of air and a tiny oil leak from around the Mocal plate that I did not know what there until after the event. That was the very best first outing of any car I ever built and I hardly have any issues but have had some ruin the events which is a pretty costly way to not have fun.

Just wanted to say I enjoy reading about what you are doing with your car. I mostly lurk, but I always make sure to see what you have most recently done. I'm working on selling my c5 corvette (i know you have experience with them) and looking at buying the fiesta st as a fun commuter/ daycare picker upper. I enjoyed doing track days in the vette, so I definitely enjoy the efforts you are taking with your car! Keep up the good work.

Big change but I am sure you will really like the ST:)

It is just a fun little bugger and the track stuff is really great as well since easy to drive, not nuts fast but sure not slow and on the road I found the Vette just to fast for what I like, corners more than top speed and in the real world the ST is more than fast enough to have a great time but I am sure you have read all the rave reviews:)

I do recommend the Octane Academy, I might not of gone if not living UT but also I had not been on track for a few years so it was a good refresher, learned some new things, great instructors, great experience and it helped prep me for HPDE 3, 9 sessions, 3 weeks later and I got up to speed pretty quickly so it was well worth it.

Welcome aboard:)
Rick

Great performance enhancement for a very reasonable price:)

3.9lb Li battery on the way, will install it on Saturday, I spend some money I was going to spend up front for weight reduction but I did a lot of work the take more out there so it freed up the funds for the rear. I have a 12 lb battery AGM that is just not enough for my needs, was going to have to put in a 28lb AGM but this Li is rated even higher and 24lbs less weight, 8lbs less than what is in the car now:)

This brand had a protection circuit to prevent it from becoming totally drained which would kill most Li batteries on the market, they claim they are the only ones with this so far. I was going to do a DIY but have many other things to get done and had the funds so just bought it as a great price, got a 10% military discount, priority shipping, Li charger, $374.

Voltage: 12 V
EqAh: 36
Pulse Crank Amps (PCA): 680A
Cold Crank Amps (CCA): 405A
Recommended Charge Amps: 1-15A
Max Charge Amps: 60A
Weight: 3.9 lb (1.8Kg)
Dimensions: 5.9in (L) x 3.4in (W) x 4.5in (H)150mm(L)x86mm(W)x115mm(H)

I just checked and I am saving a total of 31lbs, I could of gotten by with out the charger so the real cost is just over $10lb which is nearly impossible to do any other way and all but a 2 or so lbs is now in the back of the car of the 8 lbs for the Li battery, cable to it and mount:)

Not much more weight I can take out and still have a nice, even better that stock in all aspects car.

Extreme example:
CF hood, unpainted, 10lbs approx, have it painted, 9lbs or less saved, $100 lb approx.

Finally, got the radiator mod done, lots of little mods as well that will not show up much looking at the car, quite a bit of weight off the front, will take pics as soon as I finish one more trim section...

ONE THING, buy a radiator made for this car!

Fitting the closest one I could find was a royal pain in the arse, fun in some ways though....tons of time but I went a bit overboard on some of it, as usual for me.

And, swapped back to stock spark plugs, fixed a timing issue that had been a battle during dozens of tuning runs......

Projecto/HID/DRL on order:)

I bought some bigger projectors as wanted a great deal of light but when they arrived I realized just a bit to big so going into my Duramax dually and then ordered a different setup that has been done before on the low beam side and doing an LED DLR on the high beam side.

Mirimoto Mini DS2 for the truck.

Mirimoto Mini H1 for the FiST, this will be a very easy install.

Mirimoto X-DRL for the FiST high beam location, custom wired with a switch on the dash.

I will use the XB35 bulbs and ballasts for both applications.

Jamil at The Retrofit Source was incredibly helpful, a real car guy, took his time working out the best solution for my needs once I figured out the Mini DS2 was gong to be a tough fit, even directed me to links on what to expect, etc.....and hooked me up on a great package deal:)

I am doing both vehicles including the DRL on the Fist for just at $600 and both will be a pretty easy install.

Thanks:)

The mini H1 has been done in a Fiesta before so I am not claiming to be the first but I wanted to post it for my fellow enthuiasts on the best ST site in the world just in case others are considering a DIY mod.

The mini DS2 is a bit better for distance and wider beam but would require some pretty serious light housing surgery to make them fit so the Mini H1 is a bit of a downgrade but will be a huge upgrade over stock headlights so still a very good mod for safety as well as looks.

Black factory wing on the way for testing mods to make a more effective wing, I will likely try this with and without Boomba risers on some of the ideas I have.

1) sand off all raised areas on top of the wing and use a section of ABS sheeting to make on solid cover from leading to trailing edge to seal up the holes.

2) add a guerney flap, different ways to do this, simple one is cut a pattern and just screw to the rear verticle edge of the wing. More complicated is to router in a gap on the rear top and slide it in then use some screws and silicone to seal and secure it. I would test two or three different heights.

3) as above with the Boomba risers but make the ABS sheet go all the way to the front edge of trunk lid, the wing is not designed to have air flow under it, is really more of a spoiler than a wing.

4) mount a real wing to the top of the stock wing.

5) cut out the middle of the wing and mount a real wing there, it would only be 38" wide so would have to be very deep in cord(front to rear measurement and proper thickness, etc. to be very effective but might look really great.

6) cut out the middle of the stock unit and use the rounded over ends as mounts for uprights for a real wing.

Another way to go, 3D wing, boomba mounts, seal the top as #3 above.

This is a longer term project with many steps to consider so it will take some time to work out.

The mini DSS and DRLs arrived today:)

The lens is 1.5" black surround I might have showing as well. Billet aluminum, potted, exceptionally well made and very bright! I tested them out doors and at 50 ft could barely look at them, going to make perfect DRL that looks great next to the bi-xenon projectors with a 2.5" lens.

The Mini DS2 projectors are great looking as well, very good quality, great value.

I am going to see if I can make them fit the FiST but have the Mini H1 that will arrive Saturday so will use those if not able fit the DS2.

Great quality and service from TRS, ask for Jamal if you call, tell him I sent you.

All car guys there, we are going to meet up at Road Atlanta on our tours if the schedule works out, Jamal is a bit ST fan:)

I'm curious how you fit your dogs in the Fiesta ST? My 70lb Husky mix basically has the back seat on my current car with a divider and a bench cover. Seeing the Fiesta doesn't have a step when the seats are folded, I was wonder if that would be more comfortable for him. So... yeah I was wondering how you did it.

Edit: Awesome build ^_^; Still going through the entire thread XD

Back seat delete, planned when we bought the car and is listed on the first post but looks like you missed it.

I am going to make a folding vertical divider and use the stock cargo cover so we have some storage space for groceries, site seeing stuff, etc....but most of the room is for the dogs, they have used the space already for a 200 mile drive through the mountains and it worked great.

When we travel the car goes in the trailer, if we need to haul passengers I will use the tow rig, duramax dually:)

It would of been nice to keep the seats but just not going to work out and this is the only car that would do all else we need really well.
