Sooo much better for nyc driving!

Used to work with a guy who had NYC as his sales territory. Drove a beat-to-hell Nissan with 250,000 miles on it. I asked him why he didn't drive a nice Mercedes or something...he could easily afford it. He said he did, at home in Jersey. That city is rough on cars and not a place for 40-Series tires apparently!

Lighter wheels help performance and meaty tires help the ride. If you want to drop the car and meaty tires, then it's almost a must.

RIP Street tire options in the 225/45/15 size.

Looks like Hankook has discontinued the RS3V2 in 225/45/15 size, so anyone looking for meaty 15 street tires now have to get Rival S's. Not neccesarily a bad thing, but it looks like we only have one option now.

Looks like Hankook has discontinued the RS3V2 in 225/45/15 size, so anyone looking for meaty 15 street tires now have to get Rival S's. Not neccesarily a bad thing, but it looks like we only have one option now.
Well, looks like when my set of these Hankooks run out - I'll be looking for something else. Luckily they're just my track set, so I don't use them too, too much.

Makes me glad I opted for the (MANY more tire options in a 215/40-17 size) 17x8 1.2s, as the ONLY reason I would have gone with the weight saving 15x8s was to be able to use a 225/45 on them.
Who knows just how much longer BFG will continue to make the Rival S in that size? [dunno]

Yeah hopefully they keep making them for a while. I think the saving grace will be that the 225/45/15 is the Miata "Fast" tire size still so I highly doubt all companies would give up on that, but it certainly would be nice to have more options.

This is bad news. I bought my set in late September and love these tires, both on the track and the street. I hope someone else gets into this size.

I too am looking for a set of 15s for the fiesta. I wouldn't mind pushing the wheel out a bit either, with a different offset (just not as much as the mustang, that thing is more of a necessity for that tire, looks did not take part in that decision), to add to the meaty look... I was surprised to see that a 205 is still the tire overall width used on 15s even with the 55 sidewall... Any of you run stuff wider than that, like, say a 225? I went through about the first 25 pages of the thread... haha.

Great choice on the wheel and tire setup! I run the same exact setup on my shadow black 16 FiST except I went with the matte black color. It looks and performs and rides much better imo even with the stock suspension and ride height I cannot wait to throw on some h&r sport springs to hunker the car down some and improve some more on overall ride and handling.

I have my stock black painted rados on the car now with the stock optioned all season Michelin tires due to the cold weather and although the car looks good with them I definitely miss my 15s for sure! The width and the offset looks awesome on the FiST and pics really don't do it justice a lot of times it looks sweet as hell in person.

I have now seen at least 3-4 others on here running the same exact setup as this and all of them rave about it including myself. The entire 1 inch of added sidewall height for sure helps the hard bumps in the road be a little less harsh. It was very noticeable when I first made the chance and now switching back to the stock setup for the winter it was even more noticeable going in the reverse having been used to the ride of the 195/55/15 bfg sc2 tires. They fit these wheels perfectly it's a very very slight stretch which I have read to be optimal for handling and overall turn in response and it definitely seems to help with turn in having a wide wheel with a narrowing stiff sidewalled tire because I didn't really notice much of a change in turn in going from one setup to the other and back again but things that are clearly noticeable between the two setups are a much better ride overall with the 15s and the car clearly feels more nimble and light overall having lost about 6 or so lbs off each corner and could have been about two more lbs per corner had I opted for the lighter 205/50 star specs over the heavy bfg but I do like the fact I can get more life out of the bfg I rack up the miles from time to time and I don't really wanna be having to change tires 2-3 times a year lol.

However I am thinking about trying the star specs next time around and see how they do. But this setup is overall great for a daily driver who wants good performance and better ride and cheap tires that will last for a good while. I like the idea of paying 80 or so bucks per tire for nice performance tires.

In my opinion running a light weight 15 inch setup like this is a win win win situation and there is no downside to it because I prefer the look as well but to each there own it's not for everyone. I'm hoping to be lowered on h&r sports by the time spring rolls back around and I throw the 1.2s back on and I shall throw up some updated pics at that time!

Were your bfg's fairly noisy as a daily driver or on long drives?

No I didn't notice any access noise. I have the stock catback straight piped (resonator and muffler delete) and while the car isn't insane loud to me it's loud enough to where you don't really notice things like tire noise unless I was using 33x12.50 off-road tires on it (that was supposed to be funny lol) but no noise issues to me for my paricular use I drive mine daily

Anytime man glad to help. I recommend these tires to anyone on the fence I have around 7-8k on mine and they have a pretty good amount of tread left they're currently not on the car got the stock all seasons on for winter at the moment

I was considering these and the Federals, but I'm still leaning to the Federals because noise level is somewhat important to me and from what I've heard so far, the Federals are probably quieter. Doesn't hurt that they are cheaper too and the store is local so I save shipping costs. But I'm not sure yet...

^^^The Federals are going to be a good deal stickier than the Comp 2s as well, even the highest tread wear (260 in the 195/55-15 size) rated 595s.

Even though it was a different platform, I had the Comp 2s on my summer wheels for my LS1 Z28, and although they were a good street tire, with decent grip for a 340 tread wear rated tire, they were NOT anything close to what I would call a max performance gumball.

Well M-Sport, you just might help me make that final decision. Now I just need to lock the wheels down...

If I get new, I'm leaning to the td pros but I'll most likely buy used (at least first perhaps as a winter wheel), then get something newer later for summers if I really like it.
