Engine Light - Exhaust Flow Valve

Hello,

I recently bought a 2018 Fiesta ST-2. The engine light has flashed up in orange, every now and again it will turn off, for the most part it stays on. I got it diagnosed however the mechanic hasn't seen it before and doesn't know what it means. What flagged up was 'Exhaust Flow Control Valve A Control Performance'.

I was just wondering if anyone knows what this means, if so, how can it be resolved? I've got warranty with the car still so I'm hoping its covered under this.

Thanks

It's easier to give the code number of the fault for looking it up. Your description comes up with P0476. Here's a page that describes this code. I don't think Fiesta engines have this valve.

The 1.5L three cyl has a valve in the exhaust that closes to increase back pressure. I could only assume it’s to heat up the catalytic converter faster but I honestly have no idea. It’s likely that valve is failing/has failed. If that’s the case, @Joshua_Reeve03, I would see if there’s a kit to delete the valve and wire a resistor in to trick the ECU to think it’s there and functioning. I only know this exists because my 1.5L escape had one that failed. I got rid of it 3 years ago and don’t think warranty covered it for some reason, but it was a company vehicle so I didn’t pay for repairs anyways so I didn’t pay much attention.
