Nitto Neo Gen tyres.

Considering buying these when my Lionhart tyres are due for replacement. Anyone use and like them?

If you have been on Lionharts you will think the NeoGens are the greatest thing ever. They were fairly popular when they first came out--15 years ago or so. They have decent dry performance and good wet performance. Snow not so much. But they are no comparison to the current hot tires on the market. But for a budget choice they are better than the average Chinesium.

They're alright for daily driving, but not great for performance or snow.

My guess is that they will be at least slightly better handling/turn-in wise than the current 'go to' UHP all season, the Conti DWS-06+ in the warm dry weather.

But way behind those donuts in the wet, or cooler ambient temps, and far behind them in the snow.

I will know soon, since the Contis are going on my daily driver Dekagrams to replace the 205/50-16 Neo Gens in the near future (as soon as they go on sale/rebate from anyone at all!).

Not bothered about the rain. I grew up in Wales and besides, it only rains here once in a blue moon.

They are a great tire for the price. I'm on my second set and I would buy them again.

one random bonus about being on Nitto tires is that you can go to one of the Nitto track days for free. Just follow Nitto or driving line for more info on the next one. They just did one this week at Chuckwalla.

Even though there are far worse tires one could use out on the track, Neo Gens are far from a true track donut.

Ironically, when I was getting mine mounted up on the Dekagrams years ago, there was a Honda kid there getting a Hondata tune from the tuner shop doing the mounting and balancing, and he asked me if that was going to be my 'track setup'. LOL

If I recall one of the things they used to tout about the neoGen was the inner rib of tread is solid so it can stand up to heavy negative camber, making it stand up better to being a drift car tire. That might be was a tuned Civic guy would call a track setup

Yeah, I actually wanted the Neo Gens as my daily driver wheelset tires on my LS1 4th gen Z28, but they did not offer them in anything near a true 'muscle car' tire size.
(I had the 555Rs and R2s as my performance setup on that car at one point.)

They post about it on their instagram. They also have a youtube channel called "driving line" that's where they do their little one on one time attack videos. I think it's one of those things that feels natural if you are in the tracking scene. I saw the event get reposted on so many accounts, it had me feeling like I should buy a set of NT01 lol

I agree the Neo Gen is a great budget tire, when I bought the 205/50/15 for the 15x8, 11 lb wheels it was due to being "AS", low price and decent performance and not much else to pick from. I had 205/45/17 Michelin on 17x7 Koenig Feathers but they rode like a buckboard and were very noisy so I gave the tires to my daughter for her Mazda 3 where they worked out fine. I have 225/45/15 Rival S on 15x9, 12 lb wheels what were for track days, summer tires, etc..Now the Neo Gen is still only around $100, the Rival S close to $250, ouch!

I actually like the Neo Gen, decent grip, feedback, do not release suddenly, low noise, good ride, very predictable on my car at least.
