I was considering those in the 215/40-17 size to put on the 17x8 KE ProT12s I just bought from him.

But given that this setup is for summer street use, including pouring rain and standing water, I thought better than to go ahead and do that.
Pure track tire, hell yeah, they would've been on these wheels in less than a heartbeat, but a bit much for solely street use.

If the NS2Rs were available in that size (or ANY size currently, save for the 'Vette sizes [:(]), I definitely would've chosen them.

I have also been eying a set of AR1's, but I have heard from couple of people that thier crs v2 are faster and last longer than AR1

I haven't bought my own set of these tires to give a full proper opinion. I've owned some heat cycled AR1 in the past and driven the V1 CRS. However, I have driven other peoples cars with both AR1 and CRSV2 while they were very low on heat cycles. From what I felt, CRS is a good seat time tire that will last all of a 20-30 min session with similar grip levels. AR1 takes at least 2 laps to get usable temp, but if you are doing "time attack" style runs they will peak and then drop off within a 20 min session"
basically;
AR1 is faster but requires some heat management, some drivers may not be able to get the tire hot enough to see its full benefits.
CRS will last longer and be more consistent.

I should have clarified but the people saying this are Nordschleife regulars, so they probably are faster on longer lasting tires while us in the US dont have tracks that long where we would benifit from AR1

The AR1 and CRS serve different purposes. I’m the kinda human that doesn’t suggest anything unless I have experience with it so I cannot comment on the CRS. I’ve heard it’s good but I don’t think Nankang makes it in a 235/40. Even if they did, I’d still have chosen the AR1 because I prefer more lateral grip and would never drive them on the street. The AR1 lasted 15min without issues in 98 degree humid GA heat running 8/10ths - 10/10ths. After that it started falling off a bit. It’s faster than the RT660 and lighter. It’s cheaper too and doesn’t delaminate after three sessions. I wouldn’t dare trust it in rain. The CRS is probably better for that. I’m planning to put together a different rain tire setup.

Edit: Looks like it is available in 235/40/17. Maybe I’ll run a set on my spare wheels when the container arrives.

I have zero experience in rain, but ive seen people in time attack have really good results with sport contact 02

I was thinking about that tire. I’ll probably go back to 215 for rain too since it’s much slower paced.

I've been waiting so long for the CRS v2 to be in stock in a 245-40-15, hopefully it finally clears soon.

Basically this. From what I’m hearing, the latest crop of 200TW tires will put down a faster hero lap than your average 100TW track tire, but even the best ones (currently looking like CRS and RE71RS) won’t hold up that pace for more than a lap or two (or an autocross run) before they need a few cooldown laps. On the other hand, if you stick to a solid “B-/B” pace, most will keep it up with acceptable tread wear

On the flip side, 100TW “track” tires (AR-1, R888R, NT-01, etc) will take longer to heat up, but produce B+/A- laps all day long at a consistent pace.

The AR1 did seem to take a couple of laps to come up to temp. They were consistently faster than the RT660 lap after lap for 15min. They’re faster and more enjoyable than any other tire I’ve run.

are you selling the fiesta? Or are you trying both FWD and RWD?
Nah I have no plans to sell my Fiesta. It’s too good. The BMW is a new project that’ll probably become a wheel to wheel car or maybe a drift car.. If it’s really fast I might actually compete in Time Attack since the Fiesta has no chance without lots more cash. I realized I’ve found the Fiestas limit while still being reliable. Dumping another $10-$20k for 3 seconds is dumb. Probably not as dumb as buying a BMW though. 🤣

How much would a full NASA/whoever's rules spec full legal cage run for that Bimmer??
