Yes, being able to go around a tight turn quickly has its place, and can also be fun. But unless you are an excellent driver and also live near a really nice cayon or long sweeping back roads. how much are you actually able to use the car to its full potential around turns? The reality is most drivers are not good enough/aren’t crazy enough to push track monsters to their full potential.
Turns are why I have these, big fun on mountain backroads, esp the RS, it is bonkers.

Agree on skills needed - years of track days help, highly recommend to understand both your limits and the cars. I dont push beyond about 75-80% of the cars capability unless at the track. Need the ability to adjust, etc. on the road as needed, as a LOT of people dont seem to understand what the paint lines mean...

Lots of better platforms for stoplight derby, etc., usually have a picture of a horse on the somewhere. Starting a build on an old Mach1 for such purposes. 351C can make decent power...

Agreed. Just get tired of "the Fiesta should be BIGGER and FASTER" threads. Gawd Ford must read these and think, "Wow we dodged a bullet when we quit selling these in the States." 🙄 Man some folks just need to get a different car already.
Truth. Not a lot of people appreciate the small cars for what they are, vs. thinking they should be monster machines of some type.

That said, if I could get the 2.5 inline 5 or the 3.0 V6 EB into the Mk3 RS - man....

When I test drove a FoRS I was not able to 'wring it's neck' at all, due to the requisite ride along with the salesman (who, unlike with much higher production, much less gouged/allocated rides did NOT encourage me to 'give it the beans!" [nono]), so I did not get the full effect of it's performance.

But, I will say that it did feel much more 'solid and planted' than a factory stock FiST, and I did not notice any of the complaint inspiring suspension harshness everyone seems to be compelled to bring up about the car.

I do not know if this was/is due to it's wider tires, lower center of gravity, mass, build quality, or whatever, but I did notice it.

But then again, the factory FiST suspension does not seem at all too rough, over-damped, or 'bouncy' to me, as most complain about it's ride.

These are not Bentley Continental GT type luxo-touring cars people (and they do not pretend/claim to be either!)! [wink]

A caveat about the FoRS that is also a problem with the FoST is the huge turning radius due to Ford changing the Focus knuckles to accommodate larger wheels in the Focus wheel well. These are design decisions that always baffled me but truth be told you see these kind of decisions in a lot of their products . Instead of designing it right from the get they apply a quick half hearted fix. See apply 17 inches to our cars because big but having to use a small selection of profile tires to have them fit the wheel well.
As for the ride I think that’s a personal thing. I felt my stock FiST ride was firm but not that I could not live with but I am came from the drift world and on the ground cars with dampers that were only designed for smooth roads and felt like they were crashing over bumps. Ya a lot were poorly designed as well. So I recognized the FiST being over dampened . Of course the minute you throw a set of 16’s on the car it rides great.

Is the FoRS a better build sure the basis of it is not a sub compact economy car. Is it still a Ford with Ford build quality yes. Fords not bad bad but they are not up there with other brands in these categories in a lot of ways. Oh and ya there are guys complaining about GR Corolla interiors which makes me chuckle because the Corolla interior looks amd feels light years better than ours outside of their seats vs our Recaros. You would have to get Morizo seats to find a somewhat factory equal to the Recaros.
The FoRS engine and seating position with turning radius are some of its most glaring issues along with the ride for some people. Oh and the fact that buying a used one will cost you as much as Corolla GR Core or possibly Premium yet it’s a used car that has been disco’d and who knows how Ford is about parts.
Ya not a lot of trust for Ford support these days. My FiST is cheap now with only $8500 initial in it. Though I am not fooling myself Ford does not have my back. So at this point in time a FoRS would be an only if it was a dream car and it does not fit that category at least for me.
I would buy a GT for the right price 😂 fat chance of that happening . I will have an Emira long before a GT.
