Got new tires yesterday. I went for BFGoodrich g force comp 2 All seasons this time. Very happy with the continental DWS06s but wanted to try something new.
Once you have some miles on them, in different conditions (including some light snow possibly), please post up how they handle said conditions, as well as any road/highway noise as compared to the Contis.

205/45-16 or 205/50-16s??

Will do. My friend has them on his WRX and says they do very well in wet and dry conditions. I honestly can’t hear very much road noise over the current exhaust setup I have. From what I understand the contis are better in snow due to their more square tread blocks while the comp 2s more aggressive tread pattern does better with evacuating water. I thought the contis did just fine in the rain so I’m curious to try these. As far as snow goes A. We never get any here and B. I have snow tires so I’m not concerned about snow performance at all, but if for some reason I do drive on it I’ll let you know how they do. I had my pilot sport All seasons on a snow/slush mix once and they did ok.

I started getting some bad rattling on my dash for the past month or 2. Rattles in between shifts and during deceleration. Went back to my OEM tranny mount, no luck, today went back to my OEM PMM, I also set my dampening 2 clicks from full hard, had them on all soft before. Went for a ride and no more rattles, at all. I had a Vibra PMM. I never had those rattles and started to wonder if maybe the dampening was the cause, or the mount was going bad.

Which vibra mount, fast road or competition? I had horrible rattling with a powerflex race insert which I just swapped for vibra fast road hoping it’ll chill out a bit.

Fast road. I use to have a CPE RMM with the insert on the tranny mount and got minimal ratting. When I first installed my Vibra PMM I had a Cobb RMM i had no rattles. It’s weird they just started out of no where. But today drove to work and it seems fine. I think you should be ok, my car is on the older side 14 with 70K

Awesome, thanks. I have 82k miles on mine but 72k of them is highway miles from when I was commuting 120 miles a day with zero traffic and cruise set at 80. We’ll see how it goes!

Finally replaced my broken wing with an ABS one I got from eBay for $134. Fitment was ok, we had to enlarge one hole with a file. Also, be prepared to make your own holes for the brake light wiring.

I installed my no pistons evap canister skid plate today. Super easy install since I had access to a lift, although even without a lift it wouldn’t be very bad. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. I painted mine red as well, we’ll see how long the paint lasts. IMG_0986.jpeg

What up Fist fam!?!

So I finally got my Koni yellows on the car, paired with Swift springs. Struts set to halfway and shocks set to full soft. The Ride is night and day. The ride towards the end of oem struts and shocks became absolutely unbearable about 50000 miles on the original struts and shocks. Not sure if I'm gonna end up changing the dampening. We'll see how it goes but for now the ride is amazing.

All I can really say about the ride quality is that it's just more put together. Everything feels tighter like it was from factory. Even better than factory. Planted in the bumps, doesn't really upset the car as much as before, I'd be all over the place in the car. So now it's just completely changed for the better. The last thing i'd say is that I'm waiting for the ride to settle a bit more in the fronts as it is a little bit higher than the rears.

I also got me gel badge overlays on the car.

I've never used them on the Fiesta ST, but in my experience with Koni adjustables, turning the damping adjuster to halfway is way too much rebound damping, especially on brand new shocks.

If I am ever able to work on ARA Rallies anymore (will there be any on the East Coast/Northeast ever again??), that would be my ONLY option for anything below the from bumper lip. [wink] [thumb]

Going to change my transmission fluid in the next couple hundred miles. Anyone have any good recommendations for a fluid that will help stave off the increasing deterioration of my syncros? Last time I used Ravenol mtf-2 75w-80 so if no one has any suggestions I’ll just use that again.
Edit: also considering motul 300 just because sometimes it’s fun to try something different

Running motul 300 now and it’s been great. BG synchro shift before this was also great. Can’t go wrong with either. Not sure they have any benefit for the synchros though.

What did I do with my FIST today? I patted it on the roof and left it in the garage. We've got our "Atmospheric River" rain storms going on, and my wife thinks that driving a tiny car on half-bald 40-series high-performance tires in a storm is a bad idea. She insisted I take her CRV to work. I'm happy with that. My car is nice and clean right now.

I have a guy who knows a guy at Nitto. Wonder if NeoGens are any good in the rain if they want to help a friend out.

I'm the opposite. I can't get my car in the garage (entry is too steep) so it's left out in the rain and sun year round! With all this rain, it's never been so clean for so long! Saving a fortune on the car wash!

Try this... our CRV has been the commuting mule lately - my wife doesn't drive my car and we carpool a few times per week when the weather is bad. Last night it was raining hard, and I went out with a bucket of soapy water and soaped down the Honda in the driveway and let nature do the rest. Pulled it into the garage and this morning it was dry, clean and spot-free.
