Evap Purge Valve Assembly?

Here's my "after action" on the dealership service: I fully recognize this might be the dreaded "placebo effect", but overall the post warm up low idle seems to be more stable since I got it back from the dealership. I won't really know if it solved the post fill up issue for another few weeks as I typically only drive it 100-150 miles/week. I'm probably going to remain a skeptic that it wasn't the evap system until I have a few fill ups without issue.

This is contrary to what I've heard elsewhere, but the service manager said usually when the evap system goes kaput, it causes a no start situation. He did tell me the head mechanic's son has a Fiesta ST that needed a new purge valve and it was behaving differently than mine. (I assume that's where the "no start" information came from) I figure I've still got about 5000 miles and a year to get to the bottom of it before the powertrain warranty is up.

That is a concern of mine, it becoming a no start situation...which with my luck would happen at the most inconvenient time possible. Haha

I’ve had various evap codes for the last 3 months and never had a no start issue. Not saying it’s impossible, but it must take a while to happen

Mine is doing the stumbling idle thing after filling up and I always leave the pump in at least 30 seconds and never keep going after the click. The other thing I’ve noticed is that if I fill up from a gas can it will still have the same issue. Im going to replace my purge valve and see what happens.
I have modified the lines where the purge valve is with rubber lines and hose clamps so changing it is pretty easy
My overall plan for the car now is to replace most of the stock hoses and lines since I am happy with its performance but seems that factory hoses and lines are a weakness. Funny thing is I never once had to replace hoses and lines in my old car (17 years old and over 200k miles Toyota/Scion). Ford seems to have cheaped out on us lol. I feel my wife is going to hate me when she keeps seeing Whoosh on all our bank statements😂😂.

Never had this problem on my 2014 car even after 104,000 miles. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I have this issue. I just raise the RPM's if I'm sitting at a light, it's usually good after 5 minutes of driving. It has only stalled on me once in the years I've had it.

Here’s a question for anyone who’s experienced the post fill up stumbling: do you feel any other difference while driving right after you fill up? I feel like the revs drop either quicker or slower in the first few minutes of driving after a fill up, but it goes back to normal at the same time as the car gets over the stumbling at idle thing. It’s like the car doesn’t quite know how to run properly. Curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I usually have my AFR's on the AP, and they'll swing between 13 and 15 while driving instead of the steady 14.7-14.55 it's usually hovering around, I don't feel it if I'm on throttle. I usually just try to got WOT on an on-ramp just after filling up.

I just picked up my evap harness and whoosh induction hose from ups. I unfortunately had the no start issue. I had to only fill my tank to 3/4 max and I had to leave it on while filling, otherwise the car would not start. Even then, I'd get rpm stumbles and the car has stalled out a couple times. My bean is throwing a p1450 code so I'm hoping that this will fix it. It's also throwing o2 bank one running rich codes. I'm hoping it is reading that it is running rich because of the bad evap harness and this fix will be a cure all for the cel. Lol

I am encountering this issue as well, bought a 2016 back in November 2022, just passed 50k miles last Friday.

Does anyone know if I can just purchase a full evap harness assembly for a 2016? I have been searching for hours and so far I can only find ones that state they only work on naturally aspirated fiestas. I'd rather pay the money to drop in a like-for-like replacement rather than modify the tubing.

Edit: I have code P0454.

First fill up since it was at the dealership. Still had low idle, although not as bad as before. I'll probably have to take it back to them, but I'll fill it up one more time and verify the issue before I do.

I ended up buying just the purge valve and some 3/8" ID fuel/emission hose from autozone because I didn't want to wait. Hopefully that solves the issue and clears the P0454 code I am having. I am already noticing a smoother idle.

I did the same thing on my base model and the CEL went away after 2 or 3 days worth of driving, was roughly 3/4 tank of gas. Idle was instantly smoother too.

Here’s what my modified evap lines look. I just replaced my purge valve today and that setup made it a quick and easy job. I’ll report back as to whether it stops the post fill up stumbling
Forgot to update, car is now fine after filling up. We will see how long this purge valve lasts
