Installed EBC Orange today. Still had a lot of meat on the front Hawk HP Plus front pads, which surprised me, but the rears were way too low for a track date. Supposedly, Mountune's track pads were re-branded Oranges (a few years ago, anyway), so they should work well. Looking forward to my first track event of the year tomorrow.
Mountune were rebranded Yellows. Yellow is a fast street/track pad, Orange is race only and not supposed to be used on the street. Be careful!

Mountune told me they were Oranges; the 'street' version was probably Yellow (which were very good on my Acura TSX). This conversation was when I wanted to replace the re-branded Winmax pads and they acknowledged that they could no longer supply them.

According to EBC: "Effective from cold making this material street usable" This has been my experience (at least with the Mountune version); I'm in California, and it's rarely cold enough to be very concerned. So far (very limited), so good.

But, yes, I will be careful because I'm also on a set of tires that I haven't tried before.

The blocked honeycombs are there for a reason. Has to do with wind tunnels and such, I suspect.
Helps prevent over-cooling; particularly in cooler climates/seasons. Took years but eventually clogged a catalytic converter running a prior vehicle too cold.

@urapizzaship - Did you do something with the camber? Looks pretty aggressive. That a side-effect of lowering?

Pulled my FiST out of storage and after 4 years of ownership it's turbo time!! Hope I can get the stock turbo out LOL!!
Everything is loose, just soaking the downpipe to exhaust nuts right now....gonna try and pull manifold, turbo and downpipe out as one piece. Hope it works as it looks way easier to separate the turbo from the manifold and the downpipe when it's not all jammed inside the engine bay!

Nice day at Thunderhill! Set a personal best on my new Federal 595 RS-PROs (which surprised me). We'll see how they hold up.

By the way, you only get this view at Thunderhill West (2 mi). The hill between West and East blocks the view from the East (3-mi) track. And it's generally only this green in March and April. Hopefully it will stay green in May.

Just got back from the track, and they worked great. Not as much bite as the Hawks but better pedal feel -- which I appreciated. My formerly pristine RPF1s are now completely filthy, lol

I was reading on EBC’s site the other day and they said their yellow pad compound was changed in 2021 and yellow is no longer applicable to be used on the track, they now recommend blue stuff for street/track. I was like woah

I've run yellow and blue on my car, last year was on yellow and this year on blue. I'd describe yellow as fast street/mild track/autocross. I'd describe blue as fast track/street able.

Got my plugs changed out yesterday. Was a quick 20 minute job. Used a magnetic spark plug socket from Autozone with a wobbly extension and it made the job super easy. Old plugs loioked a bit crusty so its doubtful they were serviced any time before I bought the car.

Quick history of my car. 84k miles X57RS and supporting mods. Running e30 tune. I bought a media blaster from harbor freight and some course walnut blasting media. Took it all apart and soaked it with cleaner, blasted it, soaked it again, and put it all together. Started it up and instant reaction was there is no longer any ticking/clicking noises during idle. Acceleration is quicker than before and power builds faster too. I only did a quick second gear pull but there is a noticeable difference in performance. If you are somewhat handy this cleaning it isn't as hard as you think. Go to YouTube and type in ford Ecoboost walnut blasting intake valves and you'll find some informative/instructional videos. This is a must do cleaning if you want to keep your car running/performing well.

Not necessarily so. Mine has nearly 104,000 on it and runs better now than it did new back in 2014! But there again, I haven't screwed my car up like others have done.

This was just done as a preventative maintenance. My car is running well but now it's running even better than before.

When you say "screwed up" what do you mean? If you're referring to mods then most of the cars here have been modified. I do not believe they're screwed up. This thread is for showcasing what was done to any individuals car. I'm glad your car is running well but even if your non screwed car is running better than ever you are still direct injected like us all. You can not escape the carbon buildup that happens with DI.

Err..Just run Aux fuel and you will never have to do this ! Should've done a DIY for the Forum! Next time i guess!

What did you use for an air compressor? I only have a tiny one and that's kept me from doing it.
