Hey fellas,
I want to preface this by saying I have emailed my tuner a few times and asked him to call me regarding this issue and haven’t heard back yet. So I’m asking you guys. I know this is a very long post but there’s a ton of important information.
you may have seen some of my other posts as I’ve been trying to narrow down these little issues I’ve been having since installing a whoosh bov adapter. I think the problem is the adapter itself. i think it wasn’t machined perfectly and Is causing a small vacuum leak.
every since the install the car has off with the noises, not venting air when it should. Venting air when it shouldn’t, etc.
But more importantly, my fuel trims have been super wacky ever since the install. First the long term fuel trims got stuck at 9.38% and wouldn’t adjust. Then I reset the learning and now the ltft is adjusting. But it’s going as high as almost 13%. I’ll be sitting at idle and my long term trims will be 12.5 and the stft will be anywhere from 0-10% and have gone into the negatives too like it can’t figure out where it wants to be. (Please note the long term trim at idle isn’t as bad as it sounds as I’m running an extra 8% ethanol. So even under normal circumstances it would be at 6/7%.
However normally the long term trims would start off around 6% and would go up towards 8-9% as I gave more throttle, as when the demand for more fuel went up, the extra ethanol started having a bigger and bigger effect. but now after the install, the long term trim starts higher (12%) and goes lower as the throttle increases. Telling me that at idle, the vacuum leak has a large effect on the fuel trims, but as more air enters the engine, the effect of the leak lessens.
Before the install Usually I would sit between positive 5% up to about 8/9% on the long term fuel trims. ( this is because I’m tuned for e30 but typically use about an e37 mix for a little extra safety ) if I put in the correct mixture the fuel trims would be more towards 0%.
