And now, another update! What is delaying Holman from rebuilding the engine? I called them and pretended to be the dealer's service advisor. I had the answer in 10 seconds......PISTONS.....no Genuine Ford 1.6L pistons anywhere in the USA. I just realized I forgot to ask if it was the next in line to be built or were there other engines ahead of it.

I hammered the customer care rep to have someone in Ford to look in Europe, Asia, everywhere, but let's be real. Ford won't do that. It's too much work and they don't provide that level of service.

The dealer took the Ranger loaner and gave me an Escape. Then, two weeks later they took that and gave me an Ecosport....geez, take me to dinner if you're going to F**k me. There's nothing lower than an Ecosport. the mpg is lower than the escape.....and there is nothing sporty about it.

Man, that sucks. This make me feel super lucky to have a brand new long block sitting 50ft away from me in my building outside.

Ask em if they’ll put in some forged pistons from Mountune?

allegedly....there is some sort of progress in getting the "parts" for my car. The Ford rep never says pistons or engine. She always says parts. Emails where I say engine and piston get vague when she says part(s). It helps keep them from getting involved and caring about the customer. whoops....I mean it prevents saying the wrong part for another customer....She said she has access to the same Ford supply system the dealer does. I'm going to tell Ford they need to install my Mountune radiator free of charge for all the pain and suffering I've gone through...the engine will be out, so the perfect time! I'm sure they will refuse and I'll have to find the time to do it. I've lost so much time, I'll never find half of it. Honestly though, I'd rather have the Euro LHD projector headlights.......

I picked my car up Thursday and drove it home 1.25 miles. Finally drove it tonight. 4 miles out and 4 miles back. All under 35mph. I'll get it on the highway Sat or Sun. I now have a new sound. When slow tight turning either direction, a mild metal to metal screeching. It's also there when I took a sweeping curve at 35mph. Ugh....M'Fr...SMH. Back to the dealer on Monday before work.

2 year warranty. Forgot the miles.

I had them install my Mountune Rad while they had the engine out. They charged me 1.1 hrs labor. My time is well worth the cost.

Now they're saying the warranty is the remaining 13 months of power train warranty. I took it back for the squeal in it was a rock between the dust shield and rotor (having tons of concrete work at the house) and the mech says....uh, your driver side wheel bearing is bad. I'm gonna replace it.....then I get a call another day later, uh...we're going to replace the half-shaft...(hub didn't want to separate from the shaft. They used heat. It was all under warranty.

I picked it up today, Wed and drove straight to work. Let's hope I don't get another little rock down in there! And let's hope it doesn't have to get back in any time soon........geez, smh.

Hey! I like my Ecosport!
The mileage IS disappointing, though. It's heavy for its size. They didn't use any aluminum to try and make it lighter. That would be a 1st-world car sort of thing. And it sits really high. Terrible aero.
BUT... It's based on the Fiesta platform and is surprisingly nimble for what it is.
I got it to be my winter car, just to keep the FiST out of the salt soup and not put all my miles on it. Last winter, I got the Echo on some snowy dirt roads and it wasn't even trying hard. Same AWD system as the Escape. It always starts out in AWD, then goes FWD for normal speeds. That's one of many reasons it's so slow.
BUT... Slow is a relative term. It's quick compared to the many malaise-era cars I've had over the decades. Cars were slow as molasses back then.
Sorry to hijack the thread like that, but someone must defend this cheap little CUV. I suspect they'll last, as long as you change the "lifetime" drivetrain fluids once in a while.

Hopefully I can retire this thread....LOL....Ford offered oil changes for two years and something else...I snickered over the phone to the rep. Then I said I'll have to ask my Lemon Lawyer whether I should accept it or not....

I drive my Mazda 5 w/winter tires when the first salt/brine goes down.

The manual electronic shift capability was the only saving grace. The 2.0 NA engine was NOISY.....geez. Easy to enter and exit it. Yes, quite nimble. I liked displaying the AWD on the screen and take corners fast to see what it would do. But I still call it the EcoBurst or EcoBust.... Ford ruined a chance at a high perf grocery getter. If they made it an ST, then buy aftermarket lowering springs, etc. it MIGHT have been good.

The Escape, Burst and Maverick share the same AWD system, but in the 2017 Escape, they removed the manual shifting paddles and the Mav doesn't have it at all. Ford is really screwing the pooch lately.

All they had to do was put the 1.5 3 cylinder in it. Same one in the Escape and the 8.0 FiST. It would have been perfect, and it would get better mileage, too.
BUT... That would make it faster than the Escape. Big no-no in Fordland.
The good news is that the 2.0 Duratec is a proven, reliable engine that was used in a ton of cars. It's just not that economical.

The escape loaners had the 2.0 turbo....250hp basically an obese FoST...lol That 2.3 turbo Ranger was FUN...

I hated my 2020 Escape not having any way whatsoever to select gears myself. Going downhill I had to put it into “off road” mode so it’d finally downshift to a low enough gear to get some engine braking.

You must have the 2.0. Mine was a company vehicle and they only let me get the 1.5 but at least they got me the SEL with AWD and I didn’t have to pay for it. Shouldn’t have left that job lol
Just a little EcoSport. 2.0 Duratec. 166 hp and even less torque.
