412bhp would still be roughly 360-370whp, which people are already doing with ease. I agree, I don't see the point.

Ok ok ok...on this one i have to agree lmao Take a successful turbo, thin out the housings & throw in larger wheels that magically don't need more inertia aka rpms...and promote an HP level we all know greatly increase the boom factor on oem internals. no thx.

The s280 will completely max out the stock engine. This is silly. Plus there is a turbo coming out soon that will make that upgrade irrelevant... yawn.
What’s the new turbo you’re taking about? What’s the advantage? I’m building a block to make 400-450whp with stock spool characteristics and need a new turbo, preferably American so I don’t have to deal with overseas support if it breaks. Is the turbo you’re talking about made in the US? Are you testing the new turbo?

I’m building a block to make 400-450whp with stock spool characteristics and need a new turbo, preferably American so I don’t have to deal with overseas support if it breaks. Is the turbo you’re talking about made in the US? Are you testing the new turbo?
Looks as though Pumaspeed is taking the S280 and adding a bigger turbine wheel and compressor wheel. We all know how this is going to end up. LOL.

With the track record of the Pumaspeed turbos, I'd stay away.
Did yours fail too? I had an x47 immediately fail due to a defect but the replacement x47 has seen over 30k miles on race tracks at 26psi with zero issues. I change my oil and know how to install parts correctly though.. Real talk, I didn’t expect it to last this long.. I believed the internet when it came to hybrid reliability issues. I just got lucky I guess. That or people without first hand experience just perpetuate misinformation.

Edit: I’m not a cheerleader for any vendors. I don’t have any sponsors. I get the same discounts everyone else gets. I don’t care for opinions or speculation. If parts I’ve used survive or fail from the abuse my car sees, I make it known politely so others can make informed decisions. I do get tired of weak jabs at Pumaspeed though because I have dealt with them a few times including a turbo warranty and had zero issues. They’ve also pioneered a lot of beneficial upgrades for these cars and continue to support the platform with new products like this, even if it seems arbitrary. The Fiesta market is really small and everyone involved is valuable.

Fortunately, I did not buy their turbos. Seeing all of the failures on this board kept me with known good brands like, Garrett and Revo S242 (Rebranded Turbo Technics Turbo).

Like I stated before, I've read more failures of Pumaspeed units, compared to the Turbo Technics S242 and S280 turbos.

I get it. Whoosh didn’t have a hybrid when I bought the X47 otherwise I probably would’ve chosen his simply because he’s based in the US. The S280 didn’t exist and “Revogate” was in full effect at that time. Pumaspeed actually builds pretty solid stuff in my experience. I was super pissed when my first turbo broke because I assumed I was fuct (because internet said so). Tim Pwnall and the guys at Pumaspeed made replacing it under warranty super easy. International shipping time is all that sucked because it takes a long time and there’s additional cost involved.

Unfortunately I'm not at liberty to say anything yet, as I just simply don't know much about it, but hopefully that changes in the next few weeks. It will be through Whoosh Motorsports, so it will have the US support and backing we all know and love. Yes, I will be testing it :) The s280 sets an awfully high standard, with a stock engine I'm not sure it can be beat!

I see this happening in all car forums in general. Probably because one person reports a problem, ten others without first hand experiences chime in for future discussions, and thus creates a perception of a bigger problem. I usually ask for a percentage of failures in cases like these and no one usually have that data.

Are you road course testing it or 1/4 mile?
