No one I've been able to find around me will install a 205 on an 8" wheel otherwise I'd buy them. I've heard everything from liability, manufacturer specs and that any tire I get would be too stretched but I'll ask again in a few days when I'm getting my winters rotated.

And before anyone says "just get 215/45/16," no. There are exactly zero options for my use as there's nothing in between 200tw and winter tires and no tire in this size is readily available at a given shop in the event of an emergency.
Yup, same here, except for that I did find ONE (and ONLY ONE!!) local 'tuner shop' which did install the 205/50 Neo Gens on my Dekagrams, but for almost $75.00 A WHEEL!! [crazyeye]

But yes, some manufacturer really really REALLY should make a UHP ALL SEASON tire in that 215/45-16 size.

But I guess there is almost NO demand for it, save for our community (and maybe even not there, since soooo many on here live where they will never ever need a tire which will function in under 40*F temps). [:(] [:(]

every time I see this string I feel so bad dude, especially since you’re so close to me. If I randomly come into 700$ I’ll just bring a trailer lol, good luck!

Here in SoCal I can get all 4 tyres mounted for $100! SoCal does have its advantages plus it warm 11 months out of the year!

^^^IF I could have gone to a regular old tire shop around here, with 'manufacturer approved' width tires and wheels, I could have had the mounting, and even road force balancing done for that same price. [wink]

NO arguments on the advantages of NOT needing tires which can handle under 40*F temps though, as I could have put a set of 200 tread wear 215/45-16s on the Dekagrams if I lived there, thereby totally avoiding that ridiculous tuner shop mounting fee for installing the 205/50s on them.

Keep thinking about your move to New Jersey. WHY? Drove through that State years ago taking a rally car back to Florida. Was not impressed with what I saw.

^^^Mainly, to help out my (now widowed), almost 90 year old dad as a primary reason.

The other ancillary reasons I cannot (and will not) discuss on this site. [wink]

There are MANY states in this land of which I am 'not too impressed' with as well.

But, I do like the general area of where I am now, both topographically/setting wise, and other ways (except for not being able to work on the car, which technically, I could not do at the Pennsyltucky locale, either [thumbdown]).

IF all you have ever seen of this state is the same as the intro to 'The Sopranos', yeah, about as UN-impressive as anything ever gets, but the whole state is not like that.

Best reason in the world. You are a great son. I made it to the hospital 15 mins before my father passed away having flown back to the UK. Unfortunately couldn't do the same for my mother.

Damn,. I've got 205/50/16 on mine, but the tires were mounted by fitment industries when I bought the wheels. Hope that doesn't cause problems down the road.

215mm is supposed to be the bare minimum for an 8" wheel. If you look at 205mm tires, not a single one has a rim width range above 7.5" and that's where the liability comes from. It's out of spec from the manufacturer and it falls on the installer, let alone any increased difficulty & risk in installing it for their employees.

The extra .5" tire stretch is fine and nothing is going to happen strictly because of it. It's just frustrating to not have 215mm options while simultaneously not having 205mm on 8" options, too.

Hopefully someone more local will buy these. Shipping to California, not cheap
