That is correct. I suppose it's all pretty subjective without real world testing.

I've got over 100K miles between two FiSTs and have only run the OEM Motorcraft fluid.

Tracked one car two full weekends at VIR along with several autocrosses. That tranny was still going strong with 84K miles on it until I swapped it out with a "rebuilt" tranny that I installed a new final drive and LSD into. I changed the fluid in the 84K mile transmission three times during it's life.

I honestly don't see an issue with the Motorcraft fluid and will continue using it.

I had BG Syncro shift in my gearbox before I put the LSD in it and I was extremely happy. I then put Motul DCTF and not pleased with the results. I live in Colorado and when the temperatures get 40 ish and below it, it very sluggish to shift. I know it is a semi synthetic and that can account for that issue. I will be putting either the redline or BG back into it shortly and will report back.

Hey if you believe in lifelong fluid that's okay.
On my daily driver which is an automatic the maintenance interval for the fluid is 150,000 miles. I see a lot of burnt up automatic transmissions way before that. I have replaced that fluid three times in that car since I've owned it shifts great with 125,000 miles on it. I wonder why mine works so well compared to some others oh I know I changed the fluid. My wife's Mazda has the same issue it is known for cooking the transmission but I have a little secret redline D4 phenomenal automatic transmission fluid. The transmission is still going good 10 years later. I must be doing something right never had automatic transmission fail never had a power steering pump go bad.


I did a tune-up on a Lincoln LS I thought it was interesting car I found out that the rear end likes to go bad in them because the fluid goes to well crap.

People have their opinion and you can argue with me all day but I will never believe in that ridiculously long maintenance interval garbage.

Maybe that's why the auto transmission in my Miata went belly up because of the fluid?

Definitely possible most automatic transmissions failures happened because of lack of maintenance. The same goes for hydraulic power steering systems.
