Skip the RC1s. Had them for a year and did a couple of events on them. They don't like the heat and they constantly seem to have a flat spot if the tire sits for any time. Sidewalls are a bit soft as well.

Just installed RT660s and am very happy with them. They did well at NCM when it was 40 below zero a couple of weeks ago. Will be running them again at Nashville Motorspeedway TNIA next month.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve got another set of RT660s in route. They’ve been great so I decided not to change.

I love this wheel/tire combo. It’s too bad Falken stopped making the RT615K+ in 235/40/17. I’m either going to move these over to the Rotas and make them my track set or keep them on the Compos for street. There are so few choices in 235/40/17 but I’ve narrowed it down to Maxxis RC1, Nankang AR1 or another set of Falken RT660. Can’t go wrong with any of those options.

Woods, I’m looking at running the FaKen’s on my 16’s at 225/50/16. Have you done anything to the wheel wells? Also, the 16’s at that size are about $100 less than the 17’s and are in stock at a couple of sites.

The 225/50-16s are way too tall (almost 25" tall vs. factory 23.4"), and WILL rub, even at factory, maybe even at higher than factory ride heights, especially under hard braking, cornering, bumps, etc.

The shorter 225/45-16s, a size which Falken does not offer, will most likely rub at factory ride heights themselves, so forget about the 225/50s, yes, unless you extensively mod the front wheel wells as Woods has done as shown in his build posts above.

Oh man! I just looked up the total height. Thank you for calling me out on that. I should try 35’s at that point!

I cut everything under the front fenders out and built my own brackets to brace the bumper cover and the front part of the fender. They’re also pulled as far as possible and rolled. It’s a lot of work to run 235s. There are pics in this thread.

Yeah I had them repainted so the vinyl had to go. I kinda miss it.

I mean it looks cool an all but they either crashed or broke down. What I always found incredible was how narrow the front tires, steering, and brakes were. In reality there is a reason that the worlds bigger car manufacturers don’t make a 1,300lb car, it’s too fragile.

It sits because the front tires are one-off and there are no more. Also, there’s nothing wrong with thinking outside the box. It keeps life entertaining.

I can assure you, that car is legit. He owns a Peugeot 908 HDi twin turbo 12cyl diesel LMP1 car too.
