Possible cracked steering rack

Found this "crack" on my steering rack on the passenger side, showed my mechanic the photo ( through messenger, im away from home ) and he told me its not a crack / nothing to worry about .
I'd like to have your opinion since im pretty sure its a bit worrying.
P.S cars feels fine although the steering does jam a bit on startup for a second

Couldnt get the car jacked up and get a better look, those are photos i took while nudging my phone in there haha
But yes its possible. I've not checked that area before so dont know if its new either

It looks like casting flash to me, not a crack.

Not a crack, as mentioned previous it is just a mark from casting
