What would you replace your Fiesta ST with?

The more I think about it, the more I realize the best cars for me to replace my FiST with would be either the new one, or the Hyundai i20 N, neither of which we can have here in the US. I love how light our car is, and anything else that I think about replacing it with that is available here is significantly heavier.
This confirms my hope to not have to replace my car, I plan to keep it forever.
there really is nothing you can replace it with today, available new, that's similar. dynamically it most reminds me of Japanese sport compacts of the late 80s to early 00s. Sadly much of these are often thief magnets today, if not high in price and aren't so practical for that reason. I may be wrong, but I think we might be able to start importing Honda EK CTR's and Nissan Pulsar GTIR's now. Those would be a hoot to drive around town.

I am... but I'm already squirreling away funds for my 2019. If I've gotta drop 3-5 grand to hang onto this car (indefinitely)... well worth it imo.
Agree, I intend to drive the car into the ground and do what I can about the rust issues along the way. If I ever buy another car any time soon it will not replace the Fiesta, but sit in the garage next to it.

Another FiST? That's the problem. It's kind of unique for it's size/power/practicality/styling. Civic Type R styling just looks a little weird to me. (no insult intended I'm sure it's a wonderful vehicle) I would say FoST but they're big and heavy.
Barring another FiST I'd likely settle for a downgrade. 😒 Just not a fan of going with a 3500lb fat a$$ vehicle.

The Chevy Sonic (I thought that was the Spark) had a 140hp option. Manual shift available in all trims. I drove what was purported to be an 88hp vehicle for many years and didn't have an issue. Manual shift it was still interesting to drive and had plenty of power for climbing steep hills. Was lacking for *the* shortest of highway entrance ramps under construction but on open highway had no problem smoothly sailing well beyond 100MPH on the 120MPH speedometer. I don't see 2020 Sonic on Chevy's website and they'll reportedly be eliminating the 98hp Spark after 2022.

i owned the 1.4T Sonic 5mt prior to the FiST. Nothing close to the FiST.

I test drove an RS one before buying the FiST, and somehow it impressed me so much that I almost bought it instead.

But then I got to drive it much harder on the test drive than I did the FiST I test drove.
I then did the research and found all of the insane rave reviews on the FiST, so I made the 'correct' choice. [wink] [driving]

Obviously the FoRS is faster and a better track car, but it seems to lack some of the fun and daily driveability of the FiST.

Sonic RS all 134 or 143 hp...LOL. I owned a Sonic LT with the same engine and a 6-speed for all of 3 or 4 months and it was a gutless pig. No torque unlike the FiST. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Not even in the same class.

I didn't replace my FiST with this but I did take it home with me. (Some probably already saw this in another post).

Handling and performance is not a replacement for the ST but it's hybrid assist gives you that immediate torque which lends a unique acceleration feel.

My dealership had a mini autox track set up. I got to run mustangs (eco, GT, GT500), Nismos (Sentra/Juke), Veloster N, FiST, FoST and FoRS through their paces (read: hard AF) all in one afternoon. That comparison sold me on the FiST... despite being way under budget, it was hands down the most fun. I fell in love. When I heard they were discontinued in the states, I traded my 2017 for a 19 (just to get a few more years).

That is sort of what the Chevy dealer had set up behind the dealership for me to test drive the Sonic RS, probably why I was impressed with wringing it out a bit.

It felt a bunch 'sharper' than all who are dissing/blasting it on here, but then I had not yet driven a FiST at all, at that point.

I was NOT allowed to do so with the FiST, being on public roads, and with the bloated salesman sitting in the passenger seat, so I never got to experience it's full potential before purchase, and had to 'trust' all of the (well deserved) hype about it in automotive enthusiast/journalism circles. [wink]

For a fist replacement I'm hoping for the Yaris 1.6 turbo awd or a Ecoboost Transit Connect cargo awd.... think I'll be waiting a while on that one.

Otherwise something bland and boring that's comfortable and economical.
