Why didn't Ford put a front under tray on these?

I have the adf skid plate on my FiST. I like it a lot, but it doesn't mount to the frame in the front, so it's not going to be able to handle a serious impact like the skid plate guys skid plate. It is significantly lighter though and works for everything I drive on. Both are good, I just want to point out the difference since I don't see many others who use the ADF skid plate.

That is good to get some direct feedback. Did you notice any difference either in stability, or fuel economy?

I didn't, but I also wasn't really looking for that either. Now I wish I had. I did read a guys post where he said that the skid plate decreased the engine bay temp I think. If I can find that article again, I'll link it

On a big enough, and rally competition speed fast enough 'hit', even the Skid Plate Guy's product will give way (at those front 'dropper' brackets, at least), and if I were actually competing on stage rallies, as opposed to SCCA Rallycross where this bash plate is just fine, I would want something even more substantial yet, mounted to the front unibody with welded-on tabs (like the old, long long gone Team O'Neil, or M-Sport ones do).

At the speeds I traverse the stage roads, the SPG one is perfect.

Interesting, because the skid plate guys mounts look pretty robust. I guess rally driving is very hard on the vehicles though.

Here's a picture of my car in the air, in case anyone wants to know what the ADF skid plate looks like from the bottom. It has removable panels for changing the oil which work perfectly. I'd be interested to see what the skid plate guys plate looks like from the bottom if anyone has pictures

No. I wish I someone would make armor for the back though. I'm not a fan of the way the versus diffuser looks

I don't, but somebody else found a way to make it work with the pierce 6 point brace

I could see some hackers or holesawing maybe* that's the only thing is be worried about....it'd be great if they were available....I wonder when the next batch will happen?

I'll bet he drop ships from ADF and doesn't stock them. Just gets your money until when and if the next batch comes out.

I've got 75k miles on my car and 40k on Hybrid and my transmission hasn't done anything funny. Not sure how people are getting all these failures we hear about. I honestly think its bad driving (gear slamming) habits LoL

At most, maybe half the competition cars' speeds, so like maybe 40-45 MPH max for me.

Depending on the roughness and 'technicality' of the stage, the top class competition cars will average between 65/70 and maybe 80/85 max (the latter only on very hard pack, almost smooth clay roundy-round track type surfaces, the former on really rough, washed-out/very loose and very heavily rutted/cratered forestry roads).

There are no oil change hatches on the SPG's plate, so it has to come off for oil/gearbox fluid changes.
But those would be rendered useless anyway if they took a direct hit on rough stage roads, so I do not mind.

The car has to be raised to do changes anyway, and it takes an extra 5 minutes to remove, as the time consuming part is installing the brackets during initial install, and they stay on the car even with the plate removed.

But it does have two vents for under hood heat, or water from monsoons/deep puddles to escape, formed into it.

Thanks for the info on it. At some point when I have extra money laying around, I might have to switch to the SPG plate. I just need to find somewhere to drive that would justify needing the additional durability 🤣
