What turbo?!?!

Okay so i recently installed a gt2560r turbo into my fiesta... needless to say it sucks šŸ˜‚ it spools up slow and it doesn't even make that much power. My fault, and i should've done my research.
Anyway now im debating on whether i should get a s280 big turbo or a Whoosh hybrid. BUT i will also have installed a single port aux fuel kit.
I know how much the s280 is capable of making with the aux fuel kit but what about the hybrid turbo? Anyone ever run a single port with the hybrid, ive only been able to find results with the 4 port/hybrid turbo together. Dizzy told me i wont really make over 300whp with the hybrid turbo and (single port) but that makes no sense because the hybrid turbo is making supposedly 340 with a 4 port system. I just want to make around 320whp 335whp. I was shooting for the gtx2860r and single port but thats too much money... i think, or maybe the gtx is worth it? Supposedly 360hp - 380hp with a single port

instead of just asking how much hp you are going to get you should be asking yourself what kind of rev band do I want. Here is the deal the hybrid is gonna give a quick spool crazy ass donkey kick down low. Some people just absolutely love that. Some get tired of it because constantly spinning tires in 1st and second and really have to ease into the gas pedal. Also on the top end while you might get more than 300whp up top on the hybrid with aux fuel itā€™s gonna be choked off so to speak as there is only so much the hybrid will flow.

Now with the S280 itā€™s a slightly slower spool not a lot and not like any of the Garrettā€™s. A certain person likes to insist itā€™s a Hybrid not a big turbo but he really is not accurate on that theory.
Itā€™s basically a K04 frame based turbo which is a Focus ST turbo mated to a kp39 exhaust turbine. So itā€™s a Bigger Turbo but mates like a hybrid. Hence bolting it up to a stock manifold.
Call it a BT/hybrid because hybrids use a KP39 ( our stock Turbo) frame and just put a bigger wheel in.
Anyways because of that the ST280 flows a lot more in the mids and top end. With aux fuel you could easily hit 380hp on E30. The result is a really smooth running turbo that has a jeckl/hyde approach . You can drive down the street at low rpm and the car will drive like stock but smash the gas and when it hits 2500-3000k it just starts to go like a sport bike and it pulls clear to redline like that. On E30 it will also get that low end donkey back and be a complete monster.
I absolutely love my S280 for these reasons. go over to the s280 thread and look at all the vydnoā€˜s people have posted you will see what I am talking about.

I personally would go bigger injectors and hpfp as it uses our ecu and is tied directly into our tune whereas aux fuel is a piggyback design for the 90ā€™s s that can only be told when to fire fuel. People have blown up maniā€™s with aux fuel setups. Donā€™t get me wrong there are plenty of aux fuel setups running around out there butā€¦. itā€™s not the best way to go about it now IMO.

Thats a pretty big jump from a price point of view. But i guess thats cheaper then a blown up motor. Thanks again.

My view is you want to play you gotta pay if you are going to do it right. I personally feel that our cars are crazy at 300 whp and above . I have a E30 tune that pretty much works with stock fuel except I cannot tune it farther It literally gave me 340ft lbs TQ and 300 whp. The car was nuts. I honestly donā€™t think one needs more than that on the street in our cars. Even on track I do feel the cars sweet spot is 270-300whp. Though after my LSD install I might change my mind :LOL: but seriously let the car live in itā€™s sweet spot.

My view is you want to play you gotta pay if you are going to do it right. I personally feel that our cars are crazy at 300 whp and above . I have a E30 tune that pretty much works with stock fuel except I cannot tune it farther It literally gave me 340ft lbs TQ and 300 whp. The car was nuts. Im young and i just wanna keep up with the big boys, plus a sleeper fiesta would be epic. But i do totally understand what you're saying. I dont think ive ever felt power more then 260hp on my fiesta so im excited to see what 300 plus will feel like.

I explained the differences above but I will elaborate for you in a nutshell the hybrid uses a stock frame which means itā€™s limited to a certain flow ratio. While putting in a bigger wheel and adding aux fuel to it to get into higher hp ranges you are technically over spinning the turbo. Hence while it could crest 300 hp like that itā€™s pushing it harder to do that as air flow is starting to choke off.
Now the S280 uses a larger frame and wheel to start with. Hence it flows more and does not need to generate as much energy to spin up hp. It also means at the top end where the hybrid is choking off the S280 still as room to move air with ease. That is why S280 owners like myself hit a wall tuning wise at roughly 280-300 whp on stock fuel systems. Putting it simply it leans out the AF too much due to that ability to flow more air than the stock fuel system can handle.
No one remaps the turbo as the remapping is done in the tune which is the ECU via the Access Port.
As far as Turbo characteristics go I also pointed them out earlier but will go over it one more time.
Whoosh hybrid will give you a huge TQ bump in the low rpm as not only does it spool like the stock turbo but because of the modified wheel it delivers more push . Now while it will carry you out redline better than stock the dyno curves show it still falls off early TQ wise because of that TQ bump and it being a small frame turbo.
Now an S280 plot wise looks and acts like a stock turbo till about 2800-3000k where it spools like crazy and just pulls in a very linear fashion TQ and HP wise all the way redline again dyno charts show this and are posted here in the S280 thread.
Yes it depends on driving style which turbo would better suit one. I love staying in the upper rev range when I am in the canyons so I went S280 most track guys prefer S280 for reasons like this.
Now if you tune the s280 with E30 you get that TQ bump alongside the way a s280 normally performs.
If you are a stoplight racer you might want a hybrid but remember because of that TQ bump you spins your wheels a lot and need super sticky rubber.:LOL:

Good choice man, you will not be disappointed. Youll save some clutch and tires, the 280 its the best of both worlds: great response(but not too quick, as to spin tires) and enough flow to redline(6500/7k, depending on your choice).
I have had the 280 installed for about 6 months now and love it. Im waiting for some better weather to install and log my whoosh single port. I wanted to go injctrs and hpfp, but that was just too much. I got a SPA new but ā€œusedā€ and i couldnt resist. Plus washing the valves will be an added bonus. I want a 8/10ā€™ths tune so to say, nothing wild. I have e85 very local to me, but am undecided if ill get a 92 tune or 92 & E tune. Dont really wanna install a clutch just for e85 lol.
