So I wanted summer tires but I’m on a budget, evans tire is doing 2 for 4 right now and I wanted ecsta ps31’s (the guy told me it’s essentially a slick only for the track and can’t handle water at all which I’m pretty sure he’s wrong about) but anyways their out of stock the only other summer tire is a p zero Nero but it’s a little out of budget so I think I’m stuck with a performance all season so ventus v2 concept2 h457’s any good? Or the ecsta 51’s any good?
Next time go to tirerack.com, put in your desired size and tire type, UHP, and you can read hundreds of reviews for each tire manufacturer.

I've ran the kumho ps31 for the last 3 years on my neon in a 205/50/15. Awesome tire for the money. Its NOT a track tire, but something grippy and fun for your commute that wont break the bank. It wears well, is quiet, and wont try to kill you in the rain. They're easy to live with.

Just put a set of ps51 in 245/50/18 on my Caprice wagon and they're great as well. No comment on snow yet, wont be driving the car in any snowstorms if I can help it

New Michelin AS4s going on after wheels get refinished. Just dropped everything off at wheel refinisher. Will keep everyone posted as to how I like the tires. I have a feeling I’m going to really like these.

I just got a set of General G-MAX all-seasons in 205/45-16, and so far, I'm impressed. Normally, I would have opted for Continentals but they were on backorder. They have a reputation for being loud but I haven't noticed that (yet).

Oh how I wish that they made those in a 215/45-16, or even a 205/45 or 205/50 16! [:(]
Easy fix…switch to a 17” wheel! I am one of the (seemingly) few that feel the stock size wheel looks perfect on these cars! I especially love my Ultraleggeras weighing in at just 16 lbs.

I just put those on stock wheels today. Sure feels different coming from almost bald stock tires... see how they wear in.

I went somewhat cheap and got the General G-max all seasons too, got mounted last week and so far so good.. havent noticed too much compromise on my daily commute coming from the indy 500s i had on. I can still take the curves on the freeway entrance at 45-55mph. And i have not noticed them being loud either

General's are generally not a bad tire.

Haven't had much time to drive, but went out for errands in the rain today - felt very planted and nothing out of the ordinary driving in the wet. Will have to see how they fare in dry, spirited conditions.
I think the dry traction during spirited driving was my main concern coming from UHP summer tires. Those firehawks definitely hooked up in dry, warm weather. But boy do they hate the rain and colder temps. Spin city!

General Tire is a division of Continental Tire since 1987. I run the G-Max summer tires on my 4C, and a few guys that drive their 4C year round have the A/S Generals on their 4C's, since the performance difference between Generals and Conti is almost negligible. $ for $, the best tires out there right now.

You must be one of the only owners of one of those Alfas in this whole area!

I have seen ALL SORTS of (even much more co$tly) exotica around here, but I don't believe I've ever seen one of those, live, out in the wild, at all.

I have been running the AS4s in 225/45/17 on my FRS for a while now. I use them as my off season tires and I didnt want to go full winters (I have my Fiesta for that).

They're great tires. Good ride quality, quiet. They are absolutely amazing in the rain. I've had them in mild snow with no issues. Wouldnt hesitate to run them in snow up to a couple inches.

At cold temperatures (sub 45F), they really shine with a good sporty feel - almost like a summer tire in ideal temps. You can feel the sidewall stiffen up and response improve

At warmer temperatures, you can tell the sidewall gets a little floppy and the tires lose a sporty feel.

My only major complaint is they have a vague feeling on center (when steering wheel is centered).

All in all, pretty amazing do it all tire.

My desires out of this tire. Hoping to have wheels back with tires mounted early next week.

I've driven all over Bucks County (lived their for 1.5 years w/ 4C) and I know one guy with a Grey 4C Spider that lives in Bucks County. My 4C is a coupe in Alfa Red.

Unfortunately, there might be a couple of thousand owners of 4C's in the U.S., but there's probably just a small percentage of actual drivers, such as me, who actually pound out real miles and wear out things such as tires.

The owners put on high-end track capable tire or expensive Michelin Super Sport 4S tires, and then promptly flat-spot them from sitting. They all wax poetic about the car, and they have 350 miles of seat time per year. I just don't get it. It took me about 5,000-7,000 miles of seat time to master it. You just can't drive the limit until you know the mid-engine and turbo power dynamics well. There's no room for error, because the gears are short, the wheelbase is short and it lives to rotate. It's also batshit crazy from factory on suspension setup. Toss in manual steering, and it means business to run 10/10ths.

But yeah, for sake of this thread, General Tires fly under a lot of radar. In the off-road community, they are king. But they make performance tires that address real cars and real drivers. I think of them as 90% Conti, but they hedge and give a better temp range and bit more longevity at incredible prices, and they run lots of rebate specials. Seems to be the Conti-General business model.

Up in the PNW many people (me included) run all seasons year round*.

But anyway, my recommendation (if you can get them) is the the BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S. I've gone through two sets and they simply can't be beat for the price, which is usually less than $100/tire. I also love the chunky wraparound tread pattern.

The Conti DWS 06 is also great. We've got them on my daughter's TSX and I had a set on my old Legacy. Unreal performance in the rain.

For our E39 we have a set of Pilot Sport A/S 3+ that we run year-round. They fit the character of that car perfectly: quiet and refined yet very capable.

*I do keep a set of winter tires on steelies for the FiST that end up getting used a couple weeks every winter and then get put away until the next winter.

I thought about getting a winter setup, but if it when it snows my Fiesta sits and the wife’s RX350 gets used. Not really a point in me having snow tires. I’m very excited to try the AS4s.
