Those people aren't driving it hard enough. The only time it would make itself known is the extra traction, so you would have to get it to a point where a tire would slip under acceleration for it to start sending power to the other wheel.

This is a "LSD install Check-List & Recommendations" thread, not a "I don't know how to drive a FWD car worth a shit" thread.

There is definitely a difference but I don't know about $3K out of pocket difference. I was able to buy a used trans AND all the tools(including a press) to do it myself, including a final drive conversion for roughly that same amount, but I think I would be disappointed If I had paid someone else to do it...

I think the final drive conversion made more of a difference than anything. The car is so much more drivable now in all of the gears. Much more streetable, imo.
I was contemplating the final drive also. Did you install a new OEM flywheel also? My car has 60k on it so I feel it’s worth it even though the damn thing is $500.

I keep hearing mixed reviews about the LSD. A lot of folks love it but others say they can’t really tell a difference.
FWIW, I never had a car with LSD in it and decided to get one even just to see how it feels to drive with it. I feel like I can still enjoy it on the street taking an occasional corner with it without being a total jackass, but just don't expect it to be a... relentless experience.

Now, autocross, on the other hand... It's a bit of a shame you didn't get a chance to try competing with the car as-is. You'd realize just how much you had to just sort of hang in there and wait for the car to turn before giving it any more power. With LSD, you tell the car to go around and it just... goes around! It can now be the same kind of excited puppy both in a straight line and in a turn, if that makes any sense. It's definitely one of those "should've been like this from the factory" moments.

I followed the reuse guidelines in the service manual and mine was SLIGHTLY out of spec(85k miles)...I couldn't wait for the new one to be delivered. I said "F IT" and put it all back together. 10K hard miles later and all is well. I wouldn't sweat it...

I haven't autocrossed mine yet since the LSD and final drive conversion but I can imagine the benefits with the slower speed maneuvers. Literally had two kids born over the past couple of years so it's put the brakes on the fun I can have with the car...terrible timing.

See, your response is how I feel I will react to having an LSD. I’m VERY acute to small little changes (and small noises or issues for that matter) and can almost guarantee myself I will be able to enjoy and appreciate the idiosyncrasies an LSD would offer. Maybe the folks saying “I couldn’t really tell a difference” are a bit more numb to small changes (no offense whatsoever) than I am.

LSD or Whoosh hybrid turbo are 2 very different options but similarly priced ways to spend the money. I would obviously be into a turbo kit for more than the LSD w/supporting parts and install, but each option has its strong point and I think the LSD makes more sense to do first. Although the overall goal is eventually to do both, I think I’ll spring for the LSD before the hybrid turbo setup. I was looking at the Wavetrac but the much less expensive price tag of the MFactory really has my fingers and pocketbook wanting to place the order lol.

I think it all depends on how it looks once the shop is inside the trans. My clutch feels fantastic but having the added piece of mind that everything is new OEM parts in regards to the clutch assembly makes me feel good. Buy once, cry once, as they say. 😩

My car is currently getting a trans with Quaife preinstalled ($1,900), final drive upgrade ($800), and RTS twin friction clutch ($1,200). Plus I'm paying to have the work done. So $4k in parts plus whatever for labor, but I'll be left with my stock trans with 48k miles on it. I'm happy being "one and done" with the trans work.

Wow. Are you telling me you only have 48K? And you've read enough to realize you have to attack with a big scalpel if you're keeping the car??? I salute you Doctor! Saving my pennies for a 2022 2nd quarter purchase (89K).

Yes sir 48 or 49k miles, I forget. Not at 50 yet. It's a 2014 that is purely a track car.
