I installed the Greddy exhaust over the weekend and so far I'm not liking how it sounds, especially on decel.

I get a crazy amount of bass from the exhaust inside the car to the point where that's all I hear. I've gone threw a few overpasses and tunnels and I can't make out how it sounds outside of the car because the sound inside is so deep.

I installed it with the stock downpipe and Ron's 2.5 to 3" adapter with the stock hangers. Everything is tucked up and centered in the exhaust tunnel with no contact to the body.

I really want to like this exhaust because it's beautiful and the build quality is excellent but it really wears you down when you drive an hour to work.

I'm kind of at a loss with this. Is is possible I installed something incorrectly? Would an exhaust leak cause that sound?
Give it a few thousand miles to "break in". It is a deep bass-y exhaust, IMO the best sounding exhaust for the FiST.

Could just be how it is, unfortunately. I went through same but with a different exhaust, so I feel your pain. Rubber insulators made things better but, in the end, I ended up going back to stock cause working eardrums beats a burbly pipe and you don't even get to hear all of those nice burbles that well from the inside :cautious:.

Did yours mellow out over time then? I wonder if over time the carbon/soot will dampen the bass to a lower level.

A leak likely would not cause that. It would cause some additional pops and bangs and make it louder.

Here’s what mine sounds like but keep in mind 3” catless dp

That sounds great! I had a friend rev it while I stood outside and it sounded good outside but inside the car sounds completely different.

Yes, I have both in place.
Interesting, I never noticed any weird noise. It was always just very deep and bass-y. Its not annoyingly loud and I loved it on the highway.

Don’t know what else to do to make it go up a little more
Can others confirm this hangs that low? I love the single exit tip, but I drive on rough terrain occasionally and that elbow would get damaged.

Are you on the stock downpipe?

If I maintain a constant speed like going 70 it's almost silent but as soon as I let off it's like someone dropped the bass with a small subwoofer in the hatch.

Mine was hanging low when I first installed it but when I went back thru to see if was hitting or rubbing anywhere I loosened the S pipe and pushed it up further. I used my jack to hold it in place while I retightened it and it probably went up an inch or so. 20211110_135245.jpg 20211110_135324.jpg

No the car was catless and S280. I also had it on a stock turbo car and it sounded relatively the same.
