It is what it is, I'm not surprised that there were manufacturing defects during COVID production.
It happens to every company out there at one point or another. As long as they take care of the problem I don’t think it’s a huge deal. Wonder if we’ll see a full recall or just a fix on fail scenario.

We still have yet to send it back to TT. Apparently there was a batch of turbos recently with some questionable QC, so they do want the unit back to inspect, but they were tight lipped on any sort of warranty replacement.
Can you share your serial number or delivery date? Wondering where mine falls compared to yours.

Ugh... so not what I want to hear.

My turbo came with a quality inspection card and it was signed off by a builder and an inspector.
Who was your builder and inspector?

I'd have to find the box and paperwork to tell you this stuff, and I truly do not know where it is.

This is what happened too DHM* I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

I think calling it not a huge deal is kind of undermining it.

Not everyone has the time, knowledge, or resources to just get under the car and take the turbo out, send it back for inspection, wait for a new or repaired turbo, and then put it all back in, completely free, nothing out of your pocket. And that's hopefully just the turbo itself, and nothing else was damaged in the process. Because then the whole finger pointing scenario becomes very complicated.
You won't be driving your car again for at least weeks to a month. I never had issues like this before, so I'm not really sure to what extent does it really mean when a company will "take care" of a problem.

It is what it is, I'm not surprised that there were manufacturing defects during COVID production.
There are always risks with car modifications, but if a whole batch went out due to questionable QC, that's a different story. Covid production is a poor excuse, not something any of us should expect from a reputable brand.
My turbo is getting installed on Tuesday, and now I'm a bit more nervous than excited...

Ya but Turbo Technics is a much larger company than DHM who has been in business for many years longer than DHM or Sourskittles ever were and Sourskittles operation was a really small time operation with no prior experience in Turbo mods.. You can hardly compare the two situations completely different circumstances leading up to the whole DHM debacle.

So ya lets not start jumping to conclusions here. Regardless of what anyone thinks the Covid situation is a valid issue. Lots of companies all over are having labor issues , supply issues. The financial news networks are telling us to buy our Christmas presents now because the supply chain is so messed up.
So ya anyone who says Covid is not a factor really need to go to business school and learn what it takes to operate a business normally without the disruption of a global pandemic.
I will add the fact they spoke up about it and know they have a bad batch is responsible , If anyone ( Aznightmare) thinks their Turbo might be part of it and they have not put it on yet they should contact either Ron or Turbo Technics directly to check their serial numbers before installation. Its that simple.

So it's not just a rumor, but there is actual confirmation there is a bad batch out there? Where did they speak out about this?
I'll contact Ron and Turbo Technics asap.

Magnetise mentioned it. I was just speaking off that. Fact is if you have concerns like you had already voiced then going and asking about it would be the logical thing to do. Just to be on the safe side of things. I was addressing your expressed fears and concerns. Typhoon was just extrapolating what had happened with another vendor into speculation about this .
Everyone needs to stop jumping to conclusions here. Its spinning off into a lot of pure speculation.

Imagine that.....there is No speculation with FACTS* Especially when it's straight from the VENDORS. It must be hard to swallow or something.

this thread was great for S280 information, now not so much

regarding the "bad batch" rumor, it's just that a rumor not fact. Unless you hear about an issue from myself, the ONLY authorized Turbo Technics dealer in the USA for the Fiesta platform or directly from TT, it's simply not accurate.

Thank you Ron for stepping in and clearing it up. I only responded on what Magnetize said because it sounded like he had talked to them. I apparently did not have all the info.

We have spoken directly to TT and its what we were told by TT themselves. Obviously we are in contact with Ron as well, and we even bought a second turbo from him to go on the daily, so not trash talking. Just relaying what was said about the turbos from TT. If that is untrue, then perhaps we were misinformed, I just don't see why they would lie about something like this.

confirming my post , here's just the first line from the TT response to this matter.

Bloody hell!

There are no bad batches of S280 turbos? = we have had to date since manufacturing these turbos around 5 in for repair out of 1000s we have produced,

So what's the break in procedure once the turbo is installed?
Do you have to baby it for a X amount of miles before you can start going WOT and datalog?
