Unfortunately, I decided not to since it was beyond my budget. I'm not sure how much I would be leaving off the top by just doing the e-tune route, but I think a vdyno is good enough for me. I would assume most people didn't actually run their car on the dyno and seem happy with their results.
I hear ya. I got a quote for a dyno tune when i was going through my “this is taking too long” phase of etuning. They wanted the price of my whole etune process just for a eco tune, it wasnt cheap. Someday…

What can one expect to pay for a dyno tune?

Oh thats not bad

Do we have any trusted tuners on the west coast that can knock it out?

Theres drive auto performance in Everett WA, which is an extremely clean and competent shop that offer dyno tuning for around 800-1000$ depending on a couple variables.

I found a competent shop here in az I believe as well. From what I gathered from other members a remote tune from a "trusted" tuner would be preferable to that though. Afaik theres no "big" tuner for our car that also has a shop. At least on the west coast?

Is this based on having the pre-load adjusted with the turbo on or off the car?
Ideally I would like to get it done correctly while it's not on the car. I'm not even sure where to get the compressed air.
lol, you guys make it sound so easy, but I'm basically newb at this with no resources. I'm not even installing the turbo myself.

Where can I find your posts with pics?
I had to adjust my preload on the car because the dyno tune I used to get things rolling only adjusted it to 11lbs and limited boost to 25lbs . When I went for my Tune+ tune base map required 14lbs on the wastegate.

Yup! All stock fuel. Very impressed with 306 at the wheels.
your Chart looks right power band wise. I am not surprised you hit that on 93 . I would bet you could not do E30 without injectors because you started with higher octane gas. starting off 91 on mine gave me a little to use e30 on the stock fuel system and numbers in the same ballpark as yours. Nice numbers and tune.

I carefully set my preload to 4mm today (That's what Adam recommended for his tune+ spec WGA). I measured it carefully with a caliper to confirm 4mm.

My tuner sent me a low boost (11-15psi) and normal boost (22-24psi) tune on 2 different slots. I'm just not sure what I'm looking for when I take it out for a spin. Would the preload be too heavy on low boost and make my car act up?

That sounds odd. Who’s tuning it? Stratified, Dizzy and Tune+ when I’ve used each only send one base map to start and it’s with 0% WGDC. You want to see nearasdamnit 14psi on the logs at 0% WGDC (or whatever your iwg actuator spec is)

Yup on 93! Thanks! Was thinking about E30 but feel like it would be waste without fuel mods, which aren't on the agenda any time soon.

ya I picked up a whopping TQ high of 55 flt lbs and around 15-20hp by going E30 . I had literally all but eliminated TQ steer from the car and with E30 it came back . I also picked up the donkey kick just 500 rpm later than people on hybrids get it. :ROFLMAO:
Needless to say for just mixing fuel its kinda wild. Adam was like I can’t tune that tune without adding injectors which will add another 30-40 dyno proven whp. I wonder how much more TQ I would pick up? :ROFLMAO:

Stratified:
The tune currently has 2 slots. Slot 1 is the performance slot and slot 2 is the low boost/spring pressure map.
In slot 1 boost target is 22-24psi. Please keep an eye that boost does not reach or spike over 25psi during the initial runs. If it does this is likely due to a plumbing issue with the wastegate. In slot 2 boost will be between 11 and 15psi.
What does 0% WGDC actually mean? Does that have anything with how much I should set my preload on the WGA?

Waste gate duty cycle. You will have 0wgdc when running spring pressure, and nothing more. 0%wgdc is common on first revisions of a tune, helping confirm preload has been set properly. Once your above spring pressure 14psi iirc, say your tune-specified 21-24psi, your wgdc will increase to 40-60%.

So does that mean I need to do anything at this point to change what I've already set on my preload? Or are we all good?

Preload on the wg sounds right, 3/4mm. It depends on what stratifieds desired wgdc and psi are for the e tune..in my experience my tuner mentioned what he was looking for on the specific revisions, first one just on spring pressure. So that was around 14psi on my TS 14psi WG. After that, he began introducing more wgdc which resulted in more psi. Id reach out to strat if they havent specified what to expect or look for on your AP and datalogs

No you just need to take some logs on that base map and send it to Alex. If you need to do anything he will tell you. If you care to look at the logs before sending, just find the max value in boost actual column. If it’s much below 14 he’ll probably tell you to increase the pre load.
