Yeah, I remember reading about that test. I wasn't sure if he just used the same tune for all those test runs or did he do any adjustments based on the different set up.
If the crossover can give gains without a tune, then I'll just go ahead and start my tuning process now.
And install the crossover next month or whenever it comes, probably after my tuning is done.
He did those tests with the same tune across the board. As far as whether or not the tuner needs to make adjustments the crossover is bigger and has more air flow. I listed it in the mods when I gave Adam@Tune+ my info for my tune. You might want to indicate it is coming.

I was tuned within 3 revisions by Adam at Tune+ car runs great. He really knows his way around tuning S280’s too.

I should be able to log my first set of data on my base tune on Saturday, hoping I can get back rev 2 by Thursday since I have my first (finally!) track day on Aug 6th.

no my numbers were based off vdyno. But I saw similar numbers on my AP. In fact I saw 300/300 on my AP lol
When you say you have nearly the same setup are you running a crossover pipe? How much boost are pushing . On stock turbos a few bolt ons might not do much but on a bigger turbo setup it could make a difference.
S280 w/14psi wga, whoosh V3 IC, whoosh crossover & induction hose, drilled stock air box, whoosh catted dp, Flowmaster catback, dv+, stock fuel system, tuned for E30. Peak boost is about 26psi. It feels good but I don’t have any other S280s to compare it to.

My peak boost is just under 27psi. redline is 7k I mean I have slightly different parts ST200 airbox with cold air.. and Thermal R&D exhaust which is a 3 inch exhaust. Not really sure why your numbers are so low. Where in the bay area are you? I mean you should be close to just above sea level like here .

Yea I'm pretty much at sea level. I guess I need to find another S280 out here to try to compare it to. I want to keep upgrading but not if I have issues I can't identify.

and your numbers were vdyno correct? There can be variances in engines though HP wise. I know it can sometime come down to how a engine was broken in and driven. In my case I broke it in for about 500-1k varying the revs . After 1k mileage I have driven it like a sports car the whole time. I have just over 16k on my car. Oh one other question are using 1 step colder plugs? I often forget to mention that I use 1 step colder plugs.

No unfortunately I can’t use Vdyno, they don’t offer it for iPhones. I’m just going off the AP’s estimated numbers. Maybe I’ll borrow someone’s Android so I can use Vdyno. I do have the colder plugs as well.

Vydno is not a iphone thing. Its a windows thing. I actually had other members do mine because I am on Mac and you need boot camp or Parallels if you are on a Intel Mac and the new M1’s are kind out of the loop when trying to run any Windows eventually you will be able to run windows on the M1 . Ya too much info.
AP numbers are an estimate . Vdyno literally graphs the info from your datalogs . I put more weight in the vdyno than what I see on the AP though I have seem my AP mirroring my vdyno to a certain extent.
Also I was seeing the kinda of numbers you are talking about on my AP with 91. My 91 vdyno’s were a little higher in the HP.
The big question is does your car feel sport bike fast? It should.

Peak boost is 27psi with this turbo? I thought it was in the 30s.
No not at all . stock fuel setups are safe up to 27psi I have hit 29 psi and Adam dialed it back on purpose. It leans out hard on stock fuel at 29psi. I would not run 29psi on stock fuel thats asking for trouble. IMO
. You can go 35psi with Injectors and and HPFP and e40 .

It does feel much faster than the stock turbo, powerful enough to spin the tires in third. My clutch also started slipping on hard shifts, I’ve had the S280 on for only about 2k miles now. My brother has a PC, I’ll see if I can send him my datalogs to process.

Just throwing this out there:

Has anyone experienced a complete failure of their S280 yet? Besides the one that the exhaust housing broke off, I can't think of any other failures. Oil seals? Etc?

None that I know of. I had not even heard of one where the exhaust housing fell off.

It apparently cracked at the mating flange and just fell off lol.

We had an interesting failure with the S280 on our track car. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be posting about it, I can say the engine is ok, but the turbo... not so much lol
