TL;DR
I‘m paying a lot for a 2017, but I’m tired of looking, would like to know if this community sees any red flags on the listing.

Hello community,
I’ve been interested in the Fiesta ST and Focus RS for a long time, but the timing wasn’t right until recently, due buying a new vehicle in 2012, the timing of college, landing a job and buying my first home,
Just my luck; I can afford the car I want, but they quit making them, and the used car prices are going nuts.
I should have purchased last year, but I couldn’t predict the future. I was back and forth between the FiST and the Focus RS. Ultimately, I decided I didn’t need an AWD vehicle, but the current market also made the decision easier. I have a 2012 Versa hatchback as a daily driver, an 05 Liberty CRD for 4x4 when I need it, so I’m just looking to get something that’s fun to drive, and planning to keep it stock for a while.
Anyway I haven’t seen many FiSTs listings in my area that were what I wanted.
I never thought I’d be getting a car from carvana, and the listing is weird, doesn’t list a lot of the standard features. I figured I’d take a chance anyway since I have 7 days or 400 miles to return it.
Anyway as the TL;DR says, do you see any red flags on the listing, is there anything I should specifically pay attention to when I get the vehicle?
I’m not up to speed on all the aftermarket products for the FiST, so what’s up with the tail lights and side mirror turn indicators?
Also if anyone here has a carvana referral code or whatever I need, send the info my way, I think name and phone number or email address will do.

Thanks for reading, I hope this community is more noob friendly than others I’ve been on in the past.
SToop

Welcome to the forum! My parents live on Brawley School. Might see my fiesta around there when I'm down vitsiting.

I don't see any red flags. It's a high price but looks to be in great shape. Realize when the supply catches up to demand, you'll likely see the market go back to "normal" price ranges therefore you'll have considerable negative equity. But if you plan to keep the car forever (or at least until it's paid off) then if it's worth that price to you, do it.

If you can look it over before buying, look for signs of mods. Mis-matched hose clamps was always the giveaway for me. If it's totally unmodified, you're getting a nice car that'll last you as long as you care to maintain it.

Yikes, first off that car is 2k over what I paid for my 18 ( $19,678) new with Recaros and tri color paint.
Now I do see several flags. One the car has wing risers on the rear wing which means it may have some mods. Two is it was originally in North Carolina and then in Arizona. Also the second owner had it for 15 days according to Carfax. Something weird with this car and those prices are just stupid for a used version. There is a guy on the forum here that has a used 17 fully modded with the same turbo I have for 19k . Screw Carvana they are ripping you off.
Look on the forum here for one owned and taken care of by a forum member who did not just dump his car off on a dealer lot or Carvana.

Welcome to the machine.

"planning to keep it stock for a while" puh-leeeez....lol.....after budget, it's all a matter of will power.....

and you are in Mooresville? NASCAR Country! Go Fast, Turn Left. It would be a sin to leave it stock in that area...lol

OMG! 21k !!!!!! with 20k miles?!! idk if prices have raised THAT high, since I bought a new 19, but they can just go.......... (for reference, in VA, a 2019 with roof and wheels, $18.5k out the door)

I think this is owned buy the guy on here that had two but sold one, car looks dang familiar.

EDIT: Yup that's Haste's car - no worries on the car itself other than the high-ish price - https://www.fiestastforum.com/threads/good-news-and-bad-news.26708/

Relative to the "high price" - it isn't high today. If anyone had a time machine, there is always something we would go back in time and change. If you can afford it now, buy it now and enjoy it.

Carfax looks ok and I think the market is crazy b.c all the cash that's being injected into everyone's bank accounts. My wife just got a nissan juke nismo from carvana so let me find a referral code. It was the second car we got from them. I will say this time was not as good as the first. Mainly b c the pickup date got pushed back over 4 times. But we got the car finally. Good luck with purchase and I'll pm you details of the referral code.

Oh and Welcome to the forum
Just to inform the public Arizona is where carvana stores a lot of their cars. So therefore that's why it seems odd. It was sold in NC transported to the hub in AZ.

The stimulus money is a small factor if any in this. Two things are driving the craze right now. One is new car manufacturers are not able to build cars because of a semiconductor chip shortage. Yes most all new cars have several semi chips in them. Second off interest rates are just stupid low. So even on a used car a person can get a fairly decent low rate loan. So that is driving up the prices of used cars. On top of this especially with our cars its you cannot get this type of car this light and fun. Sure Veloster N are supposed to be great but guess what ? They cost more and are heavier. They are more in the FoST category than a FiST.
There is nothing out there on the market here that gives what the FiST gives you in the hot hatch realm.

Well it would definitely increase the new car price for cars that use them. But don't see it influencing the used market. As the semiconductor chip shortage is related to chips in the digital dashes and not all models have them.

Ah digital dashes are not the one things that have chips. Try our ECU’s try our BCM’’s. There are places that have chips in your car that you probably never fathomed.
On top of that manufacturers have literally slowed and even halted assembly lines. There is a shortage of new cars. People who need cars don’t automatically go well Ma guess why can’t buy a new car were fucked! Its more like wow guess I can’t get a new car so lets look at used cars.
Ad to that people being sitting at home all day for the last year and ya they are eager to get out and do things . I.E. hit the road and maybe that car in the driveway has gotten a little long in the tooth and well can’t buy a new car lets look to used. Oh and the fact that a lot of manufacturers( in the U.S.) are mainly doing trucks and SUV’s well that adds to it as well. Do you need anymore examples?

The problem I see with cars right now and the economy in general is that prices generally rise much easier than they fall. I'm afraid that once people get used to paying the higher prices for everything, it just moves the bar and we likely won't see a lot of things go back down unless demand decreases.
