The S280 spools fast . It does not have the Donkey kick in the low end yet totally gets up and goes. The main TQ difference you see is in all the dyno charts and I have explained it here before. The Hybrid has a huge TQ bump straight from like 2-2500 up to around 3k peak and then arcs over and relies on HP to carry the car the rest of the way. Whereas a Turbo like the S280 is stock like till around 3k then the TQ band arcs up and pulls closer to a straight line across to pretty the TQ HP crossover pt gradually falling . What that translates to is a much more linear TQ curve than a Hybrid. Regardless what anyone says about their hybrid or S280, these dynamics are inherent differences in the turbo’s and no matter what one feels about how they think their turbo runs , you cannot escape them.
What it translates too is a much more linear feel out the s280 where the turbo once spooled just pulls and pulls.
A hybrid on the other hand even in your own words delivers a majority of its TQ on the low end and like I said and your statement even alludes to it uses the HP to get it through the top end.
Whether one is better than the other remains solely on what the driver wants. I have experienced both and am not disappointed with the S280 and I use the car as a daily driver and have no problems zipping through traffic and I do live in Los Angeles . A city some people are even afraid to drive in due to the level of traffic we have.
YMMV.
