Apparently nails/screws in your tire are contagious!

My low pressure warning light came on yesterday, checked all of the pressures and my passenger front tire is 12psi low. I already know what this means:

Yup, it went all the way through and started hissing as soon as I pulled it out!

As a professional in the Offroad industry, this is the kit that I highly recommend keeping onboard every vehicle you own(in addition to a small 12v air compressor):

IMG_4962.jpeg

This kit has METAL handled insertion and reaming tools, not the plastic handled ones that you get at the parts store. The issue with the plastic handled tools is that once the plastic handle breaks from you putting force into it, the metal rod will go straight through the middle of your hand. Throw those plastic handled kits in the trash!!

Plugged. :censored:

Cut off the excess rope cord, sprayed some soapy water on it to make sure there are no leaks, and ran the car up to 80mph on the way to work this morning and the tire still feels balanced! This will at least get me maybe another 3K miles out of these tires before needing to replace! ;)

Track day on Sunday. So today I pulled out the QuickJack and went to work on the brakes. New pads and also got to use my new brake piston tool. Man, does that make a difference.

Flushed the brake fluid as well. And then cleaned up the OZs since I had them off the car. Just got a new wheels stand for cleaning/coating and that was fantastic to use.

Shifter bushings, LSD, rear wiper delete still to go... And some tweaking on ride height, camber setup, and corner balancing.

I have repaired those and even further out on my own cars and trucks over the years and NEVER had a problem.
I have always used the rope style plugs and trusted them completely.
However, when working as a professional mechanic I would never fix that on a customer's tire.
I got one there...plugged it and drove to Cpe in So.carolina. haven't looked back. Just keep an eye on it and the pressure.

well.. i didnt buy plugs, but i bought extra tires today:LOL: i also kept the punctured one.
My tire guy told me its actually patchable and to keep it as a spare just in case.

but instead of doing that, im think gonna clean it up and use it as a nice seat or something when im working on the car, maybe some sort of decorative piece since this tire is literally brand new

^^Given how narrow those are in tread width (about the ONLY thing I don't like about them!), I seriously doubt you will rub with them, even on an 8" wide wheel.

(Unless you have factory dampers which are blown out, of course. [wink])

I agree they are narrow. I really wanted to go with the star specs instead, but they are a good bit more coin. These were only $118 a tire so I figured I’d try them out.

I think they are over a half inch narrower than the 215 width star specs IIRC :(

Installed Mountune Track pads (front) today; plan on doing the rears tomorrow. So far (on the street), they really work well; good initial bite, easy to modulate. Next track session is in 2 weeks, so looking forward to that.
I've really liked the pads. Just installed my second set. Not great mileage out of them so keep a close watch on wear.

Interested to hear your thoughts on them after the track day.

Did your pads have pins (for lack of a better term) on the back? One pair had a pair of pins in the middle \ . . /, and the other pair had pins towards the outside \ : : /. It threw me off at first because my Carbotechs did not have these. The pair with the middle pins go on the outside, and the pair with the outer pins go on the inside -- at least I hope so, lol! Interesting feature.

Picked these up today. Now I just need to wait for the Rota Titans to restock. I can’t wait to throw on that set up

I’ll let you all know if the 215 rubs with the 17x8 40 ET. I’m only on the swift springs. I should be good!

Those look like sticky summer tires.

They do, yes. And I think the OE pads have them as do the EBC pads. Hawk pads, from photos, have them also. I can confirm tomorrow which go inside/outside.

PLEASE post up pics of the ride height when everything is installed, and give a review of the FA500s as far as ride goes, and their ability to take big hits on the roads (potholes, etc.). [thumb]

I realize that those are taller springs than their standard kit for this car, but what rate are they, and do they offer optional rates in those taller springs?
