I've been looking to pull the trigger on an ST for use a a daily and fun car on back roads. So far I've been able to locate a 2018 Shadow Grey 20k o.d. asking price is 15, 700. The other one is a 2015 in Oxford White 40k o.d. asking price is 12,900. Both of these cars are at dealers. The 18 was in California its whole life a one owner. The 15 is two owners originally from out of state New Mexico. I'm leaning toward the 18 because of milage and history. What would be a fair price to offer this dealer? not wanting to pay the full asking of 15,700. If any of you have suggestions on what years to be looking for during my hunt and options let me know...by the way almost all of the STs I've seen are with the non Recaro Seats.

Thinking of getting an ST is this a good price?

Do you plan on Modding it? If so the 15' has less emission tomfoolery to deal with than 16'+ model years. FYI...but if you don't just go with the shadow grey. But....alot of us have said..." I'm not modding it EVER"! Then it ends up Hybrid or BT and all the necessary hardware to really make it Rip. Good luck!

You can compare the cars to the book pricing based on year/model/trim/mileage and see if you can pull a Carfax. (Carfax info can be manipulated tho) At least you can squeeze out a bit more history with this information to give you a peace of mind.
But personally, I wouldnt buy a car I didnt see or test myself although I absolutely love this dang car

I would look for a 16 on. If you do consider an earlier car, check and see if it was subject to the recall for the coolant leak. There was evidently an issue with the head on some of those cars, and coolant could leak and then catch on fire. The fix was somewhat of a band-aid and didn't involve replacing the head, so I would not want a car with that issue.
Some people felt the earlier cars rode a bit harshly, and there was a change in the suspension for cars with a build date of about 2/16 on which softened it some.
Cars from 16 on also have the Sync 3 screen which is better than the screen on the earlier cars.
The differences are relatively minor, the cars were quite similar through the whole model run.
A clutch could last well over 100,000 miles if the person knew how to drive it properly, or be completely fried at 30,000 miles or sooner if they didn't.

I'd suggest finding one with Recaros and Taking it for a test drive to see if you like the way it will hug your Body style. I thought they would be horrible for long journeys....NOPE ...Boy was I wrong. Didn't even cross my mind after a 5k From Mpls Mn to Key west Fl and back. Just food for thought so you don't buy base seats and end up doing the seat swap and trying to find some in good shape.

Never here lol. I say get anything 2016 and up and if you are not heavy definitely get the Recaro’s if you can. Oh and ya anything after 17 Orange Spice is the best color 
IMHO.
Oh and do not get a Orange Spice with the Molten Red Recaro’s that looks like Joe’s Upholstery shop screwed up on trying to match the seat color to the paint. Its just wrong looking. It‘s why I order my 2018 with Smoke Storm Recaro’s but have fun trying to find that. A lot of dealers are/were fucking color dumb and color blind and order Orange Spice equipped with Molten Orange Recaro’s apparently they also have no taste.
