Konig Dekagram vs Konig Lockout

I’m really interested in the 16 inch wheels from Konig in either the bronze or gold finish for my 2014 daily driver. I’m trying to decide between the Konig Dekagram 16x8 and Konig Lockout 16x7.5. The Dekagram is about 3 lbs lighter per wheel being flow formed and a little wider. As my daily driver, I’m not doing any autoX and either choice will be an improvement over stock.

1. Are the Dekagrams worth the extra $200 for just daily driving. I’m not sure if I will feel the difference with my only mods of stage 1, RMM and air filter between the two. Also will there be less tires that will fit the 16x8 Dekagram. Sorry for the beginner questions. I’m looking for an increased sidewall for driving comfort 205/50/16.

2. Which wheel is better looking in your opinion on Tuxedo Black?

You won't notice any difference from a 3 lb difference per wheel. Likely most of those running autocross won't actually notice it either. Less unsprung weight is always something you do, because theoretically it improves so many things (and you can measure some of them in performance given the right circumstances), but driven blind in an a/b comparison, I doubt anybody could tell the difference in 3 lbs of wheel weight from driving around.

He may not notice the difference but Dekagrams are much nicer wheels than Lockouts. They are lighter, wider and they look better.
They will just be and advantage overall.

It’s a no brainer pay the extra $200 per set and get the Dekagrams or get savvy and wait for a set to come up used.

I bought a set new on Black friday a year and a half back before the price increase.

I bought a second set several weeks back with tires. Sold the tires replace a couple of my curb rashed wheels with the clean ones turned around sold the set with Curb rash for a good deal.

Moral is if your savvy and patient you can get them used for a very good price. Lockouts are just not worth it at this point in time.

It comes down to looks and money. The OP already can't tell any difference in looks or he'd not have asked people which wheel they think looks better in black. So then it comes down to a decision of whether the 3 lbs less weight, half inch wider width, and bragging rights is what the OP wants to spend an extra $200 on.

Wow are you gonna even do this? With the 8 inch wheel he can toss a 215 or even a 225 if he wants. Stop being cheap . If you one afford an extra $200 on wheels maybe one should not be buying wheels at all. Oh and plus sorry but you keep on arguing in favor of an ugly set of wheels. Damn most people want wheels in part because they look good and guess what Dekagrams look a hell of a lot better than lockouts. IMO

The other factor, and it IS area/shop dependent, is that many shops (almost ALL around here, save for the one tuner shop) will NOT mount a 205 section width tire on an 8" wide wheel, (because the manufacturer recommendations all stop at a 7.5" wide MAX wheel).

Now I KNOW that Dpro is gonna shoot me down for that, and say that he has a HUNDRED shops in his area that will mount a 205 on an 8" wide wheel all day long, and 10x on Sunday, but it IS area/locale dependent.

I have underlined the parts which say what he wants to do and wants to know. He said he wants to mount 205s.

I would dispute the part about the extra $200. If that were the case, you wouldn't have guys choosing the MBRP exhaust because it's a cheaper when for a couple hundred more they could get a much better exhaust.

As to looks, that's opinion. You like the Dekagram better. Personally, I think this style of wheel is boring looking, no matter who makes it or what slight variations there are in the design. I am not offering an opinion on the looks of either wheel being better.

Back to the dead horse, my main point is that the OP's choice comes down to fitment, money, and looks. The part about weight and flow formed don't really matter in the use case the OP has presented. Money and looks are personal enough, the OP can make up his own mind.

If you ever want to do autocross or want to run a wider tire like a 225 in the future, get the dekagrams. I think a lockout will be fine for you if you're set on street only and 205/50/16.
