Future Fiesta ST owner in NYC area

Hi! I moved from Brazil to US in late March 2020 and the plan was to not have a car as I live in the the NYC area, full of public transportation. However I miss my Peugeot 208 GT so much! When I first saw a Ford Fiesta ST I got in love and this will be my car in US.

I'm planning to buy one in January/February, after I'm able to renew my drivers license (the Brazilian one expired and due to covid and can't renew it).

Any suggestions of sellers or advices to what look for are appreciated :)

Bem-vindo. The FiST is a reliable car, overall. Some early cars were recalled for a bad cylinder head design, and they didn't really fix the issue. I'd look for a '16 or later model with good paint and no rust. You can look for one on Carfax, or even find a nice one for sale here.

WELCOME!

Do you have a reserved/designated PARKING SPOT in Frank Sinatra's home town there, as ANY time I've traveled to that town for concerts, there was NO PARKING to be found, at all, anywhere, whatsoever. [:(]

It actually would have been easier to drive into Manhattan, actually find a parking spot there, and take the train back across the river to Hoboken, THAT'S HOW HORRID the parking situation is there!!! [crazyeye][ohcrap]

Yeah... it's incredible hard to find parking spot here. Fortunately my rent comes with a parking spot, but I'll not use the car to drive around the city as your correctly mentioned, I'll not find where to stop, so it is more to have fun on weekends outside of Hoboken.

I love Pink Floyd! This song is one of their old amazing ones!

I didn't realize it was so bureaucratic to get a NJ driver license with an expired Brazilian driver license and without an international driver permit... Just got my SSN so now I'll be able to progress further on this. Without credit history even insurance is highly expensive, but I don't give up, I really liked FiST car. There are some on Carvana and some nice ons here on the forum as well. I don't mind buying one already tuned. I even prefer that.

By the way, this was my Peugeot 208 GT:

Yeah, we don't get any of the hot Gallic hatches here, nor from any of the other Euro countries' (Spanish, Czech, etc.) here AT ALL. [:(]

Not right now, NYC is deserted! Of course nothing is open either and rent is cheap now! You have to reserve a U-Haul 3 months in advance and all these fools need to find someplace other than TN to move to, they are driving prices through the roof!

Nobody here will buy them, Renault, Peugeot and Citroen were never supported when sold here and still have a bad rep in the USA. Same with Fiat and why they bailed. That is what makes our FiST so special and why it is no longer here, lack of sales.

I'm considering eastern TN as one possible retirement area...lol. It's cheaper than DC.
