I’m not sure about your AP Racing kit. I haven’t seen their kit on a Fiesta here but a lot of other cars run them. I looked when I was upgrading and didn’t have much luck. The Stoptech ST40 is plenty of brake for sure but likely heavier than the AP. Consider upgrading the rear as well. I had a lot of bias before I upgraded the rear to the Focus SVT option. You can find it at Goldcoast here: http://goldcoastautomotive.com/cgi-bin/p/awtp-product-category.cgi?d=gold-coast-automotive&pc=16399
Cheers, AP Racing is definitely *the* brand here in UK. Unfortunately we don't get much of the US stuff like Willwood or Stoptech.

There is one other chap doing the exact conversion I'm after here: https://www.fiestastforum.com/threads/ap-racing-cp9200-315mm-big-brake-kit.21985/page-3#post-406264

So waiting to see his outcome, but annoyingly his wheels are delayed due to pandemic.

I have seen rear upgrades from older models, but hadn't really considered it. What behaviour did you witness with just fronts upgraded?

I'm not doing timed stuff, just fun laps with mates. So don't mind being a bit slower, but obviously stock brakes are just heat soaking almost after a few laps.

For what its worth, the bumper comes off without taking the rear diffuser off...

What are your thoughts on the pictures I tossed up?? Is it better or worse or the same as you thought??

It looks like it covers everything necessary. I can easily patch the open areas for the exhaust since I have the side exit. Thanks for sharing that. It will save me time.

You can still use the license plate with those braces, correct?
Yeah it’s designed for the euro plate. No problem. I installed the OEM base Fiesta wing today in preparation for the bigger one. It’s not necessary but it’ll allow the new element cleaner airflow. It actually looks good too.

I enlisted the help of my buddy. This is the guy that built my exhaust and helped change my turbo four times and has done countless other stuff to my car. Anyway, this UK wing doesn’t fit the US hatch correctly. What we thought might take 2hrs took 12 just to get the holes drilled and accessible from the inside. New brackets had to be fabricated to make it sit close to the rear glass, which took time to design.

Overall the design is good and the hardware is convenient and durable. The powder coat is absolute shit, however. It’s a racecar part so spacers, brackets, bracing plates and things like that have to be made to fit. This isn’t a home garage job unless you’re a fabricator. I can have these made locally but it would take a large financial commitment.

I’m happy with the purchase. I believe the element is the perfect size and not too big. Track time will tell.. Adjustability is FANTASTIC. Today I plan to remove the bracket and take it to my local powder coating guy to have it done correctly. Most would forgo the expense of repainting it but my eyes expect perfection. I’ll post up more pics when it’s finished. If you have any questions please post up.

Sorry to hear all of that bother/trouble, but if it works as expected, it was well worth it. [thumb]
I FULLY understand you wanting to have the paint perfect on it as well, yup, even despite it being a 'racecar' part! [:)]

With the hood vents, I've also learned the inside of the hood is designed differently and therefore the inside fiberglass trim pieces don't fit proper... thank god they're just the inside bits which are only visible when hood is open.

Can't wait to see pictures of this thing on track! Now get that diffuser and full skid tray for maximum flat bottom!!

It's pretty haggard lol. I have blood all over the place to prove it.

Not sure where Woods got his, but there are these from Ron (Whoosh Motorsports);

They are called canards, or dive planes, BTW.

I take it they would not make up a diffuser for you to be the guinea pig to try it out, with a possible run for the whole community if functional??
You saw the post regarding the Versus diffuser?

What would you change on it to make it 'functional' in your mind? It covers the whole rear section... is light... not obnoxious... I'm not trying to sell their product, I'm just generally curious as to WHY it's believed it's a non-functional piece.

I am NOT saying that the Versus is non-functional. [nono]
I am NOT an aerodynamicist, but I seriously doubt anyone else on here is either.
IF they are, I HOPE they will jump in and give their assessment of the Versus, and any other diffusers (or splitters/wings/skirts/etc., etc.) out there. [:)]

Merely asking if Woods had questioned that company above about a diffuser, since they seem to be (but yeah, I could be very wrong about this) all about real aero function over all form, and he has dealt with them before.

We all get defensive about products we have on our cars which others question, I get it (many question the CP-E exhaust, and their IC I have waiting to be installed, and the 'boat anchor' 17x8 Pro race 1.2s, I own).

But until Versus shows me actual wind tunnel tests confirming their (yes modest) aero claims, I have to believe that it is mostly for aesthetics.
(And yeah, I know that even a day in a tunnel co$t$ more than they probably make in profits in a whole quarter or more. [wink])
