My previous 2 projects gave me a lot of fun but i really miss the pocket rocket feeling on the twisties, until this day the Mini Cooper S R53 is the only car i regret selling it πŸ™

It was done from A to Z, engine, suspension, brakes, interior and in the end was a superb machine that would put to shame a lot of cars on the mountains...

From Meister R Gt1, Stop-Tech St-40, Tvs 900 Supercharger Kit, Quaife LSD, Head Work, Meth, it was really something else β™₯️

The 335i went in the same process , from Pure Stage 2 HF, Helix Overdrive, Lpfp, E40, Ohlins Dfv, Inlets, Outlets, Brembo GT, it was a Beast but that stil gave you a big smile on your face while having fun on the b-roads πŸ˜‹

I studied both platforms the best i could and took around 3 years to complete the Mini and 2 years to complete the 335i (are they ever finished? πŸ™„) and i've started to study the Fiesta St just 2 or 3 weeks ago although the car as been on my mind for a few years...

In the next couple of weeks (covid-19) i'm going to pick up a St2 with only 53.000km's which has upgraded brakes πŸ₯° and R Sport CAI + Bluefin Stage 1 so i've been wondering what to do 1st on the project and goes as follows:

1- Lsd
2- Suspension
3- Performance

On Lsd + Suspension i have my own preferences and know which path to go for concerning also bushings, motor mounts, camber plates, arbs, etc

Performance wise i've been reading a lot but with no definite conclusions yet and here is where i really need the expertise and advice from the community πŸ‘

Been looking at the Stage 4 Gtx2860R from Peron but also for the Turbo Technics S280 kit...

Unfortunately i can see that on this platform it gets to a point where Direct Injection can't cope with fueling starvation anymore which is understandable...

Fortunately both the R53 and the N54 and the St can double the horsepower easily by having strong engine blocks 🀸

On the Mini i only had Meth to reduce Iats but on the BMW i had a Helix Overdrive Hpfp + Stage 3 Lpfp so i didn't had the issues of using Port Injection or Meth, just Direct Injection for all the power you could ever need which was amazing!

It's a shame we can't have upgraded injectors + hpfp + lpfp instead of aux fuel/and or meth to give higher power...

Saying that i'm aiming at 380bhp and looks like that's not feasible without aux fuel, is that correct?

Concerning the turbos if i go S280 which manifold do you recommend?

I like linear/progressive power delivery so hybrid is still a option but looks like big turbos go well on these cars and also prevents wear on the engine due to lower boost levels...

I can get access to Etanol which i used a lot on the Bmw but looks like that it doesn't work as well on the St because of the OEM fuel system...

All opinions, comments and ideas are more than welcome and i'm very thankful πŸ™‚

Hi there and welcome to the forum, some of your questions I can't answer because I simply don't know the answer, but in order to reach 380hp you're definitely gonna need aux fuel. I know Peron makes a 4-port which I hear good things about. Also, I haven't heard of any issues when it comes to Ethanol. I use it all the time without issue. The only caveat would be going from E30 to E40/50 on stock turbo, since it doesn't make a difference since the turbo is maxed out at ~230 hp anyways. Also, 380hp is starting to push stock engine reliability, you might want to consider upgraded internals, but it sounds like you know what you're doing so good luck!

Thanks, i understand that Etanol is good as to most platforms but looks like it doesn't give the performance required on the OEM fuel system pass "X" amount of power...

I did about 100bhp on Etanol on the N54, it was crazy, all on Direct Injection..

I see what you mean. Ethanol will give a little boost in power, but usually it is limited by other factors, like the turbo or injectors.

Idk your budget but someone just posted a dhm 360 turbo kit in the for sale section that is a bit bigger than the s280. Brand new too.

Thanks i've just seen it, problem is that i pay a lot of customs in Portugal unfortunately...
It's a amazing kit and if i was in US i would be all over it 😏

Almost everything i buy performance wise comes from Uk so i'm thinking either Peron, Puma or CP.

I'm a bit indecisive on the choice of turbo to be honest, i can see the S280 is cheaper and with OEM manifold and the Gtx2860r uses custom made manifold , as presented on the dhm 360 kit or the Person.

Even the G25-550 must be awesome if i would build the motor further down the line but of course i have to put back in place Lag and use of power. I might do a couple of Track Day a year and the rest is just fun on the mountains 😎

Apart from the S280/X47R/2860R any more options out there

I don't mind to purchase things from different places for example...

Exhaust from Puma, Manifold and Downpipe from Peron, Pipes from CP.....

Let's say a budget of 4 to 5k? πŸ€”

What do you think?

The CP does for 3.7 with injectors on the S280 , you also have the X47R for 4k with basically everything or the Peron Stage 4 for 4k also...

They are coming out with an upgraded hpfp and there are already upgraded di injectors and lpfps. The s280 with ethanol can make between 360-375whp. The peron 2860r kit is capable of 400+. The motor is good till around 380whp, after that it's a gamble. Some people are fine chilling around 400whp, some are not. If 380bhp is ur goal an s280 kit on ethanol with aux fuel or upgraded di can easily get you there.

This is what I'm looking at building if I keep the FiST. Do you have links for the 360-375whp s280 dynos? I've seen numbers all over the place but not that high.

Ndr racing made 274kw at the wheels with an s280 and a 4 port on e70. It's on his insta. That's roughly 370whp. Dizzy made 366whp on vdyno with a single port and e50. I'm on my second e40/singleport revision.

Yea I've only seen the dizzy 360hp on a v Dyno one time. I don't really compare the Euro guys since they have different sensors and fuel.

Just hoping 350hp is the norm on aux and E blends with the s280. So far only seeing 300-330hp which is still great

Australia has very similar fuel to us but understandable. Problem is no one has finished tuning yet. I will probably dyno my setup when I'm done tuning but its a slow process.

^^^I forgot, are you in Langhorne, Pa.??

Did you do the whole installation yourself, or have it done at a shop/at Purple Drank?

Moving the thread back to here... With aux fuel its just driven by the lpfp whether it be single or 4 port. The 4 port uses an intake manifold spacer and the single is at the throttle body similar to with the n54s. You can run full e85 with a 4 port with nothing else but people upgrade their lpfp for peace of mind ad its not designed to run full e85. You fill up with full e85 or a blend (e50) and you tune the controller and di system in tandem. European cars are different tho, us cars use speed density while euro cars tune off the map. For the s280 and your goals if your gonna run a blend the single port is fine. For full e85 or peace of mind the 4 port is what most people go with for uniform fueling.

Sometimes it's hard to translate whp to bhp US/Euro measures and there's always big discussions about that. I can see Laird and Collins have done cars in the range of 340-380bhp on 99ron, some with ported manifold and modified oem camshaft...

I think know i understand, and i was thinking early one that a single aux fuel would be sufficient, if i need it!

I think i'm going to try 1st the CP5 kit has it comes, then i go to my local friend who tunes everything from Porsche, Ferrari, N54, N55, Etanol, Meth, Single Turbos, the guy is really really good, he just tuned a McLaren 720S with upgraded exhaust and the owner of the car has the record of 100-200 on draggy in Portugal and go for a custom tune. All cars are different and a flash is always different from a custom tune, i think we all agree on that, even considering that the CP5 tune should be extremely good. So few more things wanted to ask to see if it's worth it...

If i try to stay only on 98ron what else can i do to push up a bit the turbo kit apart from a custom tune? Crossover pipe/exhaust camshaft/lpfp/ported manifold/1 step colder plugs?

I mean it's not hard for me to blend , just a bit more time consuming taking the 10L barrel to the gas station, top up and put another 20L to make E40 to run single aux fuel...

The car has only 53.000 km , i'm certain that if on the tune the torque delivery is smooth out a bit there's less stress on the engine therefore you can make more power on top... I had 850NM and 630bhp on my N54 but my tuner smooth out the torque delivery to spare the gearbox and engine...

There's a lot to discuss here but like you said @wetwea33 single aux fuel seems so simple and works with OEM fuel system, it's just a controller, no extra pumps, etc...

I had Aem V2 Meth on my Mini which was the holy grail for the R53 platform because of being a Top Mount IC and Iats being outrageous with a smaller pulley but it's something i don't even think about it for this platform πŸ‘

Anything else you suggest? The CP5 kit looks amazing, i'm going with Mongoose Decat + Injectors + Itg Intake + Airtec Stage 3 and their S280 actuator looks very very good πŸ™‚

They say i don't need Bov or Crossover pipe neither Ported Manifold...

Open to all suggestions and sorry only seen the last few posts on here today πŸ’ͺ
