Stock Rotors too soft?

It became all about weight reduction in the 70's. Rotors could be cut 1, maybe 2 times and then thrown out. All types of metallurgical reports to show how 'solid' rotors were/are, but no meat to cut. All hail our disposable society overlords.....

On a different note, switch off or turn off completely the ESC as it's taxing the brakes all the time...
I know that you probably meant this as a well intentioned post...but you should never turn off ESC on the street. I'm going to be a bit frank and rude here, turning off ESC to save on a little brake wear on the street is some retard-level shit.

I've seen two posts here where people totaled their FiSTs by leaving ESC off, and I know of one person who has permanent spine injury from turning off the nannies like that. I "know of" two people who are dead and suspect that turning off ESC is a significant factor in that. I can get a 30 degree slide on sport mode with ESC on "Sport" mode. In some cars, it is useful for track performance. On this platform, this ESC is tuned well enough to give you plenty of slide. If you need more slide, you shouldn't be doing that on the street.

This car couldn't be sold being as tail happy as it is if ESC wasn't a default option. This car is a nice handling vehicle, but ESC is essential to maintaining stability in off throttle and emergency braking situations in a corner.

Rotors are $30-$40 + S&H each from RockAuto, for everyone's benefit. I didn't like the OEM rotors, centrics have worked better for me. People have died, this ain't a joke.

Different braking techniques can help. If you've done some aggressive braking and then you come to a stop, and you're holding the pedal in one position until you go again that's a good way to deposit some uneven material.
Agree and seconded. I've been forced into destroying rotors on my truck with an emergency braking followed by gridlocked traffic. Having to hold the brakes while still hot is what I blame for going through a few sets.

Jumping back to OPs question. I'm at 64k miles on original rotors, and at about 15k I switched to EBCs Red Stuff. Brakes are still functioning fine but I would like to replace rotors and pads soon. I also drive like a grandpa and rarely brake aggressively without a little cool down after. Mostly because I hate the dust on my pearly whites.

I had a ‘16 from new that I replaced stock rotors and pads with stock rotors and EBC reds at 20k due to warped rotors and a couple mm lip on the outside edge. The second set I got up to 53k before having the car totaled out :( with the same issue already showing it’s ugly face, warped rotors and a lip. Now I’m in a ‘19 new with stock rotors and EBC reds at 21k aaand the same problem is present once again. Crazy! Warped rotors and a lip at 21k.

Rotors and pads are a consumable item. They are gonna get a lip as they wear.

Best advice i can give is to not ride the brakes as much as you are. Learn pedal feel and control.

Tragedies aside. I turn it off a lot, previous car was an svt focus. That was sold with ZERO stability management. Only traction control. That car could get just as sideways as the fiesta. Proper car control is key. Nannies wont save you once your in over your head, and are a poor crutch to rely on.

Something like Hawk Blues will SHRED your discs but the stopping will be awesome. Not great for a street car or even spirited canyon runs.
Don't the Blues (or any temp range/bite/cf comparable racing pad from Carbotech/G-Loc, etc.) also require a helluva lot of heat build up in them in order to function at all??

Another reason they don't make good street use pads, as one does not want an accident causing 'oops' at that first stop sign/light out of the 'hood, on a cold morning, with the local gendarme sitting right there. [nono]
