I mean this seems to be an issue in tuning itself. Most of these issues are due to the desired being to low or boost not being set correctly. The problem with the Cobb program is that there are 10 tables that work with load, 10 that work with boost, 5 with timing and so forth.
This. Sounds like it’s set too low and the ECU is cutting to “save itself”. IIRC there’s two things that would cause throttle closure on these cars: Load or Boost. One of them is set too low and it’s freaking the ECU out. Also can’t our stock sensor only read up to 29 psi?

Yep, about 29.5 anything above that can't be measured. I had a similar issue with throttle closure. Went thought all the load tables and figured it out but it was a real pain to fix

What fixed it? I'm sure the tuner knows about load tables. I'm not sure why he isn't looking at the tune but I was considering getting a 3.5 bar map sensor to help the situation

basically looked over the many tables and found one that had not changed like the others. Also used another customer car to compare logs and tunes and see what made the other car not have the issue.

I really don't completely understand the Cobb program. But that's the easy way of explaining it.

I got my kit all buttoned up and fired up today!!

did you all reinstall your manifold heat shield??
No but my manifold is coated and it helps a fair amount. If you can get it back on I would but if you already tightened ur coolant lines down its probably not worth it.

Anyone have dimensions or a part number for the turbosmart 14psi wastegate being used on the turbo? I have a new one sitting around, I want to see if I can update the springs to the correct parts and add the clevis to make it work but I'm worried the actuator shaft is too long or the mounting points changed

It's not worth it. You have to cut the rod which I did to reuse my 18psi efr spec but it almost didn't fit because of the thread length. I wouldint suggest it. Sell the one you have and buy the proper one.

I got my OEM turbo removed today and took the manifold and turbo out as one. Will the S280 go back in the same way?
Also when I tried to take the nuts off the studs for the exhaust manifold all the studs twisted out except the top center one. Will these studs be OK to use if I can get the nuts off, or are they buggered? They almost look like some kind of self tapping thread?

Worked for me.

So the exhaust manifold studs are OK. Turns out the nuts have a small collar that is crimped to act like a lock nut and that is why the studs twisted out of the head....worried over nothing.
When you installed it from the top as one piece were you able to have the diverter valve all the ducting on too?

Yeah for the vacuum hoses. The actual boost piping I had to install after, the turbo/mani was installed

I was able to drop the turbo in from the top mounted to the exhaust manifold with the boost piping and the GFB DV+ attached. I forgot to install the one pressure line that goes from the barb on the compressor housing to the waste gate control solenoid. I did not want to remove everything to install this one tiny hose. I could get the hose onto the hose barb from the turbo, but there was no way to get the spring loaded clamp open enough to get it in place. I couldn’t get any kind of pliers into the space to hold the clamp open.
So I made this high tech tool out of a fender washer. I forced opened the clamp by working it onto a drill bit until the 3 tabs on the clamp lined up. Then I slipped the tabs into the groove that I cut with a narrow kerf hacksaw blade. I slipped the clamp onto the hose (being held open by my high tech tool), put the hose onto the barb, slid the clamp and washer down the hose until I was positioned properly over the barb then popped off the washer and allowed the spring clamp to close….easy peasy!

Hey everyone! Over the summer I was thinking about upgrading my turbo, but I'm torn between this and the Whoosh Hybrid. I would still need to purchase the 11psi waste gate and TS Plumb Back shorties. I'm keeping stock downpipe (until I need a new one, then high flow cat) and not particularly planning on Aux fuel. I would like to keep daily drivability, that can sometimes be lost with big turbo. Was just wondering if I could get some opinions?
