Left - out, right - in. Why, you ask? Because the pricing for a broken boot kit is comparable to the whole half shaft. And, it comes fully assembled. This is what's called a "no brainier". Especially considering that I had replaced this exact CV joint's outer boot not even 3 months ago - and it split again!!
Ok. Trying to be calm here... The half shaft went in yesterday. Today, I have been trying to diagnose some rubbing (sorta) noises coming from the passenger side of the car. Came home, put it on the lift - and was presented with this shitshow.

Before I start screaming at the Ford dealer who sold me this, is there something that I could have done wrong? It looks like the Oeticker clamp hadn't been tightened properly and the yellow grease sprayed all over. I didn't manhandle the shaft, and all the "action" was at the CV joint end.

So, technically, this post belongs to the "what somebody did to my Fiesta"....

The second question is whether it's OK to drive - the amount of grease is less than what I estimate was packed into the boot, but then again, this is what stuck, the overall volume lost may have been higher...

When you start hearing that axle tick is when shits about to go down. That being said I’d fix that ASAP. Anytime I broke an axle I just bought a whole new one. I was breaking those from torque though (on a mazdaspeed3)

You are okay to drive it just replace it when you can. Definitely not manufactured correctly.
Tons of cars out there that have had torn CV boots for 50,000 miles.

Finally got rid of my donut. Got some Firehawk Indy 500’s put on the car. Have about 50 miles on them so far, quieter than my Falkens. Granted those were 200tw with 3/32nds left

I keep forgetting to order these. Do you have to request them to ship to you in the states or is the option available at checkout?
I used Paypal and there were no issues with shipping other than the cost; I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they arrived.

Any sound clips?
No, didn't record the wonderful noises. I listened to the YouTube clips of various exhausts but it's hard to get a real sense of the actual sound IRL. It's a nice deep tone without being obnoxiously loud. Since you're local PM me if you want to grab a coffee or something and give it a listen first hand.

Ordered my first engine mod. Ram Air from Ron @ Whoosh Motorsports. It’s not much, but I’m excited to put it in and get some more turbo noises haha.

Tried laminixing my tails and reflectors. Short and simple they ain’t going on the taillights in any way. Third brake light and reflectors went decent. Actually looks it’s not there in direct sunlight as you can see on the drivers side, but in the shade it looks nioooooce [emoji108]

This is a collection of that last week or so...

First my Mountune lowering springs and quickshift came in the post a few days ago. I'm going to get the springs done professionally cause I don't want them to fail while driving, or be impailed while taking the stock ones off. I also hit 10,000 miles a few days ago too (13 months old from new). Finally, I spent the last 5 hours trying to install the quick shift in place. This was probably one of the hardest installs yet due to the lack of space to work with, plus I had to take out the battery and battery box since I dropped a tool. I attached some photos too.

Installed some LED bulbs instead of the amber ones that come with it, they stay on white and turn amber when the blinkers are used, Hope it’s safe. Also using them as DRL instead of dropping the $800 on the euro pair which I want lol.

How was the install?

If you've ever replaced rotors, that's half the job. Once the rotors are off, you're going to need a 13mm socket with a LONG extension because you need to thread it between the rear springs to get to the bolts. You will also need an 8mm socket to remove the bolt for the anti-lock sensor -- but you do NOT need to remove the sensor, you just need to remove the bolt in order to release the dust cover.

I definitely recommend using a breaker bar for the main bolts. The hardest part is getting a good angle on some of those bolts.

Removing the hub was easy for me but I've seen videos where a mallet was needed. Once the hub is off, remove the dust cover, clean everything off, and the plate slaps right on.

I started the job during half-time of the Michigan-Illinois game and finished well before it was over. All-in-all, very easy if you have experience working on the brakes/rotors. If you have any thoughts about replacing the rotors or your pads, this would be a great time to take care of them as well.

Thanks! Definitely comfortable doing most things on cars and not afraid to take on new projects.

Going to put these on my list of FiST things for next autocross season.

Most of my car budget this year went into the Jeep I bought. Full rebuild of suspension and steering components + various sensors and God knows what else.

My Jeep in its natural habitat.
