Yeah but at dealer labor and parts costs probably, so... :shrug: and they'll probably only put 1.6l in there.

It's so easy to do it yourself. Don't stress over it. Whether you go with the ravenol that everybody is using or the factory fluid or whatever; put in 2 liters.

About as easy as an oil change as long as you have a funnel with a long extension. All you have to do is remove 2 bolts, one for draining and the other to fill.

Insert funnel from above and fill, pretty much all there is to it. Plus the piece of mind knowing you put the right amount of fluid in.

Right now I'm on fresh OEM junk and the trans is so damn clanky and noisy. Reason it's on OEM is I bought new Axel seals because the moisture turned into leaking trans fluid over the last 5k since the previous oil change......put new seals and it literally leaks worse with new seals lol


Currently trying to get out the mind fuck situation and figure out what to do. The trans leak is pretty decent smh. Also leaking from up top. Looks like a breather type of thing is missing some teeth and letting it leak


I'm sure putting 2.5 quarts is nor helping anyway

Curious; does the 2.5 quarts drip out of the fill hole when when open? I was talking with my neighbor the other day, and he was like, "it's a manual, just fill er up till she starts dripping out of the fill hole". I tried explaining to him that these trans are NOT like most others; that they have a set level below the fill plug. He said he would still fill till she drips, lol!

Food for thought: Here's the fill instructions for the 5 speed Fiesta gearbox. As you can see, the diagram is much more specific, as it shows where exactly the 5-10mm is being measured from and to...

I will say it's funny how much of a variance they give: from 5 to 10mm. In actuality, if I had that gearbox, I would 'FO SHO' fill it till she drips!
My old Foxbody Mustang GT with the Borg Warner T5 had a similar "5mm below fill hole spec". Anybody and everybody I know or have ever known, filled that gearbox till it drips.

But there is a baseline minimum that you don't want to be under.

For example, in most 'yota 5 speed manual transmissions that I have owned, if you ran too low, you would starve 5th gear, and eventually lose it. You wouldn't notice right away, until it started popping out of gear. In those gearboxes 5th is higher up in the gearbox.

For the FiST, I have no idea of what is where, but I will say that a more than a few people have experienced input shaft bearing failure with their FiST. And has been reported that the service tech told them that 2+ liters should be in there, that Ford directed them as such, when repairing/replacing the trans.

Meaning that, while it's not as crucial in a manual, it's still vital to have a minimum.
