Trying to spread the word of the low transmission fluid problem.

I felt like it got me to where it needed to be. I can't draw a line with a ruler so I'm not the best person to give exact measurements.
I had to go down at least a 1/2 more on the old fluid to touch it. Now it's definitely somewhere between 3/4 and 1 inch.

And I did let it drain for at least 15 minutes.
It was on 4 jack stands.
Sounds about right to me [emoji106]

I let mine drain for about the same, but got the right side up so as to tilt more out. Probably not really needed, since the stock fluid is like water and drains out pretty quickly.

BTW, thanks for the vid... Liked and subbed [emoji3514]

I realize they do quarts, what I was conveying was that I don't know if what was in the bottle was exactly 1 qt. Ever look at oil bottles at the parts store and notice the levels are not exactly the same through the see through peek window on the bottles? I do.
I see what you're saying, but I doubt there's much variance between bottles. Most of it is "trick of the eye", imo.

I get what your saying, but when there are several dozen bottles on the self, flat, side by side and the levels vary slightly it's not my eyes :geek:

I drained my fluid on ramps so I am assuming there was a bit of the stuff the dealership put in there last time, but it was really low regardless. After draining out that thin watery garbage, I refilled with the full 2 liters and used a zip tie as a dipstick (since it has the little "ridges" on the zip part to "grab" the fluid) and was about 3/4" below the fill hole. A zip-tie made a surprisingly good dipstick on account of having enough surface area to "hold" the fluid.

The clickity clack when shifting is a bit quieter and I don't feel so likely to miss the 2-3 shift anymore, but I still get a whirring rythmic grind whenever I pull the car out of gear when coasting to a stop. It *does* seem like it's only when I take the car out of gear while the flywheel is spinning though, if I clutch in, take it out of gear, and wait a minute before releasing the clutch it doesn't do it. I'll just keep an eye on it. I have the chain of paperwork for the dealership underfilling my fluid twice, as well as giving me an inspection sheet that said the transmission fluid level was "correct". I measured what I took out and it was underfilled, but if I have a trans issue I believe I have sufficient documentation to make it the dealerships problem.

A surprising amount of the variance might be a difference in how "bulgy" the various bottles are.
good point, and yet another reason to check the amount that's in the transfer case.

who the heck pours motor oil into the engine even it's the measured to the correct amount and not check the dipstick to make sure?

So, why would one not want to check how much oil has been poured into the transfer case and blindly have faith that what was measured and poured in is enough?

I was even concerned by the amount that might be left in the accordion-like hose for my funnel, so I waited about 20 minutes before buttoning everything up for it to finish "draining".

Very true, but at least there's a proper dipstick for engine oil. Which is why 99.99% of manual transmissions have the fill hole at the correct fluid level. Simply add till it starts coming out. DONE.

After I pumped everything out of the bottles I then turned them upside down in a cup, and pumped that in as well

sometimes it's good to use some common sense, especially for something like this where there are countless, "transmission whining" threads.

Is it low because your seals are leaking line mine are?
the factory spec was wrong I believe, but I can’t find a factory service manual or addendum stating such. I do know the dealership swapped my fluid 2 times in 48 hours and it was still under filled, so I doubt they are either aware or that it’s even in the service manual/bulletins.
