A Comfortable Idiot

We'll get to the idiot bit in a minute, The comfortable bit is that I just had a local shop install a set of Koni Oranges. I have stock springs and my reaction to the combination is much as reported by the couple other guys on here who did the same. The car now rides like it has suspension tuned for the road rather than the track. I went out on my favorite local piece of twisty road this morning, and can't say I noticed much difference. A little loss of the darty turn in, but strangely, I think there is a little more feedback through the steering wheel. The ride is much more, errrr, comfortable. I took She Who Must Be Obeyed out later on in the morning, and she said "Wow, money well spent." I breathed a sigh of relief.

Now the idiot part. While the car was in the shop I thought I might as well finally get a RMM and get them to throw it on. I got a Whoosh one with the street bushings. Don't need to tell anybody about the benefits of a good RMM, but I must say I am impressed by the low vibration level this piece produces. Feel a teensy bit at idle, and can't say I noticed too much difference with the AC full blast. Anyway, as I was seeing what difference there was with a foot to the floor run from a standing start, I thought "What sort of an idiot wouldn't get one of these things as soon as they got the car, like everybody says to? "

Did you go to RT Tuning for the installs, or did you find someone else locally?

Went to a local shop I have been to before called Motorcar Makeovers. They do a lot of work on unusual cars (expensive, classic etc.) and understood everything I was talking about when I told them what I wanted done and the reasons for it. I was very surprised a) at the number of shops that refused outright to fit supplied parts and b) how bloody expensive it is around here compared with prices for this work I've seen on forums for people in other parts of the country. Well, not California. ;)

^^^THANKS!
I will have to check them out, since YES, RT Tuning is not exactly 'bargain basement' when it comes to labor co$t$. [:(]

I'm not saying they're the bees knees, but they seem to be competent. The first bloke I spoke to was the one that understood - the one on the desk when I took the car in was a complete dingdong. Anyway, as someone else said on here about the Koni Oranges, I am still driving around looking for bumps to go over!

I'm doing that now to try and help knock all of the dried-up mud and muck (from working STPR this past weekend) out of my wheel wells, out of the side skirts, and off of my mud flaps, even before I take a pressure washer to the whole underside of the car! [:(] LOL
