Sounds like you're saying it's OK to break the law and pollute the environment and lend to poor human health based on your justification that everyone does it and the world is going to hell anyway. Lord of the Flies!!!!! Go read it.

But seriously, I respect our differences, and I'm the biggest hypocrite of all because I've run several cars catless. I'm just older now and don't feel the need to anymore, and feel more a sense of responsibility and respect for the law, environment, and other humans. On another note, my little brother is dying of lung cancer right now, so I'm a bit more sensitive to these things. But at the same time it was inconsiderate people like me who didn't care just a few years ago that could have contributed to it just because I wanted a few extra HP to feel good about myself.

No, what I am saying is the pollutants put off by a well tuned and modern car is negligible when you look at the big picture.

We, as a modern human, pollute this earth in almost every one of our daily activities. From spraying crops with various pesticides and herbicides to make the wheat/oats/vegetables grow that feed the animals we eat or make the grains we consume all the way down to doing something as taking our morning shit and letting it flush to sometimes outdated, leaking and not properly disposed of places to drilling down deep in the earth fracturing it and pulling up oil...want me to go on there are a million examples.

My point is your sky is falling attitude (quote taken from Chicken little, its a book, go read it) would be better spent on bigger things. I cant disagree that spending a couple hundred bucks, for a street car, to lower pollutants is a bad thing at the same time will it matter in the grand scheme?

Wanna compare apples to apples look no further than VW...how are hand full of modified 4 cyl gas sipping cars going to compare to large companies that screw the system all the time? The answer is we dont even come close to comparing.

Sorry about your bro but unless he was an auto tech that worked in a very cramped area sucking soot off of tail pipes I dont think the correlation of no cats=cancer is valid. Sure there are carcinogens in exhaust;then again what isnt cancer causing these days? Seriously though sorry to hear about the brother man that's gotta be rough.

I personally respect some laws but in my state the law about catalytic converters is enforced as much as the law about jay walking. You act like a few cats taken off are equating to dead baby fur seals globally, not happening.

Lastly, I think your thoughts about the 99% running catless is off. Its the minority. As it sits right now I, personally, am still running the OEM cat. Again I cite the reasoning as to why is this thread

I realize I am in the minority here and it doesn't bother me, there are bigger fish to fry. My whole reason for offering a counterpoint was because from what I'd read on this thread thus far there seemed to be a blind acceptance of going catless as being the right and best thing to do. It bothers me, I've been modding cars for a long time and I've seen so many people who have no idea what they're doing and they are pretty uneducated and ignorant. They rush and run up credit cards to get their cars moving as fast as possible and never stop to think about anything beyond dyno numbers and rep points. So I thought I'd piss some people off and hopefully make them think of the perspective from the other side of the fence, which as I said seems to be missing here.

Again it's all good, I appreciate your love for cars even if we have differences in philosophy.

It's a good read, it's all about what happens to people when they make their own standards and refuse to consider why boundaries were put around us by God or man in the first place. I was relating Mr. Golding's thesis in that book to our discussion here and the logic of "I can do what I want, it's no worse than what everyone else is doing".

You have to read that initial thread I keep referring to, which I dont think you have done. A quick summation: From a power standpoint on these cars going catless NOT the best option if you have a stock turbo, although this is contrary to the norm.

For me I like the pops, burbles and backfires an un-catted system gives you but to date I have yet to attach anything but the OEM cat.


for the record I hate cars but love driving them.

No I didn't read it, but I get it. To your point then, I wonder how many catless STs still have the stock turbo? And even still in my opinion, all the side effects and law breaking still aren't worth it if pops and burbles are all you're going for...but to each his own.

I think what you should do is leave cars alone that way your soul doesnt have the crushing weight of spewing pollutants into the environment bearing down upon it.

My state..no front plate-illegal, ride height modified-illegal, exhaust over some arbitary BD level -illegal, Tint darker than 32-illegal. I live in south dakota. Go to california shit you can barely do anything that isnt illegal.

in all seriousness though, modern vehicles like ours truly are extremely efficient. there are countless vehicles on the road with all their emissions equipment that are countless times worse for the environment. vehicle emissions are seriously the least areas of concern when it comes to respiratory health.


but a lot of simple modifications are deemed illegal that most people don't think twice about.
lowering a vehicle, swapping bulbs for leds, tint (lights or windows), exhaust (tone), hids, front plate removal, license plate covers, license plate in windshield, etc
all of these modifications are illegal in some states, and this is just a small portion of potential "illegal" mods

i have a MBRP 3'' cat back already installed on my car. I know its stupid but just to be sure, the flange that bolt on the DP is 2.5'' ? i had made a few research but i didnt find my answer lol

On pictures, the exhaust seems a little smaller (2.5'') on DP side than the other side (3'').

i just need a confirmation, i look for a downpipe...ATP, 2JR, COBB.. i dont know yet. 3'' to 3'' or 3'' to 2.5'' !

For both the downpipe and the catback if they mate up to stocks parts, downpipe the cbe and vise versa they have a neck down to 2.5". I believe CPE is the only true 3".

Anyone running the Racing Depot Catless DP? Looking to order it soon but not wanting to pay an arm and a leg. racing depo has good reviews with the Fost and Evo guys, just want to know if I can run it with the stock Exhaust and the quality etc

I have had the catless depo racing dp for 5000 miles with no issues. It fit well and was easy to install. Others will bash it because it's not what they have. Save your money for other mods and go with the depot racing one. The welds actually looked better on the depot one than some of the big name ones. Makes a huge difference on a stock car even without a tune, that's what I am running right now.
