As one member pointed out that “it felt heavier” on the autocross course is because the car is indeed 300lbs or so heavier than the FiST. And the FoRS is even heavier at around 3400 lbs. Not only that the wheelbase longer 98 inches vs 104 inches of the Focus. Because of these specs and the physical size of the car the FiST is a lighter and more nimble car (and in my opinion more fun to drive) If you want a better all around car (not superior) that has a better interior and interior room, better highway cruiser, maybe a Focus would be better.... or maybe even a Mustang?

I myself almost bought a fost but I needed the better gas mileage at the time and the fist ended up being a lil cheaper. When the fost came out I wanted one bad like bad bad. I have a mk1 with 242k on it modded a bit. Driving 30k a year and I'm almost always by myself. The fist made sense. It would be awesome if you modded the shit out of both and had them tested against each other. I know that's just a pipedream.

Here is the deal and I do have friends with FoST’S and they have never ran around stirring up shit like the OP has done here.
IMO opinion he has genuinely trolled the forum. See most FiST owners I know are not going to go on a FoST forum and go I hate to break it to you guys but the FIST is better hands down. Which is pretty much what the OP came out of the gate saying.
I challenge him to come run his FoST with us on Angeles crest hwy lets see it handle like he claims I am all for that, Or maybe he can meet up with Rome Medrano out at Thunderhill and have a go around the track with Rome.
I digress slightly though. I have not been attacking you ( the OP) . I have merely been point out impressions from myself and others impressions backed up by road tests, professional race car drivers etc...
Yet the OP waltzes into our forum and proceeds to drop the equivalent of metaphorical bomb and then gets all bent when people react? Come on your either numb to how people are gonna react or your trolling hard.
I get it you love your FoST awesome. Some of us just don”t agree with your assessment and feel we have the data to back it up.
You feel otherwise we could discuss til the cows come home in the end we may not change the others mind.
Accept everyone does not agree with you and call it a day.

I do welcome you to the forum and hope that you do mod your FiST as the bug of it is bound to bite you.
If FoRS track guys are picking up FiSTs and saying they are having more fun well then there is something strange happening.
Get some more seat time in your FiST take it out to the Sierra Foothills since you are at Travis AFB which is not to far away. Find some of the awesome bay area roads I cut my teeth on in 510”s and 240z”s as a kid and young adult.
Then come tell us what you think. Till then ok more power to you on liking your FoST.

There is a mod comparison by Arman Filmz, called Equally modded fiesta st, focus rs and fiesta st review. Don’t know how to do the link.

I have an 07 Focus and I have a 19 FiST , they both have there place. I got my Focus brand new when gas was almost 5 a gallon here then the mod bug got me and when I found out how rare a find I got . It has the Street appearance package on it , I pretty much use it as a cruiser now and here recently when the gas got up again I got my Fiesta for the gas mileage plus never owned a car with a turbo so that had a lot to do with it.
So I have both and like them both equally. [driving][driving]

So you're asking me to "race" you with a stock FoST vs. moded FiST's on a road I've never driven on? Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. You know if I didn't know any better I would say this is trolling......

Here is a simply question; which would run that stretch faster, a stock FiST or a stock FoST with the same driver? I feel pretty confident the FoST would and I really wish we could test that.

No one has released any data to back up claims of FiST superiority; least of all you......

The more I think about it the more I realize I am a bit disappointed in the FiST. Not because it's a bad car (because it isn't and I would have still purchased it) but because I had unrealistic expectations of what it was. Lets assume I didn't have a FoST and I asked this community which I should get based on pure performance. Some of you would have put forth an accurate pro's/con's evaluation BUT, and I'm pretty certain of this now, some of you would have straight up shit all over the FoST. Some of you would have also made WILDLY inaccurate statements about the FiST in comparison to the FoST.

AND (this isn't exclusive to your community) for whatever reason the FoST is really treated as the step-child of the family. Maybe it's because of the RS; or maybe because the FiST is the "best bang for your buck" hot hatch out there. I really can't say..

I bought my car online sight unseen. Based on the hype from multiple sources I was expecting to be blown away; I really thought it would be head and shoulders better than the FoST. And I REALLY like our FoST. But it's not and I won't accept some of the more outlandish claims made in this thread.

Anyway; the FiST is a fine car with many great attributes and I enjoy owning

I got ripped at a family function last night for driving a Fiesta, and why would a self respecting man drive a bitch car? Of course Mr. Macho drives a 4cyl Colorado lol

Just tell'em you have nothing to compensate for... and we can whip it out and measure anytime he'd like.

So I've had my FiST for about a month now and I thought I would write up a brief comparison to my FoST (technically my wifes).

Background: both cars are bone stock; 2018 FoST ST1 with 5k miles on it (we live on a military base so we don't drive much at all), 2019 FiST base with around 700 miles. Both cars use 91oct from same gas station I have driven both cars on the same road in virtually identical weather conditions multiple times. There is very little variation in summer weather in North Central California (East-Bay).

And I got to say...... unfortunately........... the FoST is superior in virtually all meaningful ways.

Listen, I REALLY wanted to say the FiST was better in some respects (it's mine after all) and, it probably will be after I mod it. But as they sit right now, the FoST is better in almost every category.

Acceleration - This isn't even close. The FoST is much faster. The FiST "feels" fast but so does the FoST too! In fact, the FoST "feels" faster (ofc right lol).

Handling - This is was where I thought the FiST would clearly be better but, it really wasn't. When I took them both through some twisty's they felt VERY similar. OFC I didn't push them excessively hard but I did push them. The problem is the FoST just accelerates out of turns so much faster than the FiST. Now, after I mod the FiST it probably will handle better but in stock form it's hard to tell the difference and the FoST speed advantage puts it ahead.

Comfort - Also not even close. The FoST rides better, has less road noise, and is more ergonomic. It's slightly longer and wider than the FiST but only enough to really add a bit more hip room. They are both small cars. The FoST trunk is noticeably larger as well.

Aesthetics - I'm biased but I think the FiST looks slightly better :) however they are very similar so kinda hard to say.

Practicality - Both cars are almost exclusively "city" driving and occasional twisty roads (virtually no highway driving) and the FiST does smoke the FoST in fuel economy. We average 23 mpg on the FoST and we got 30 on the second tank in the FiST. I'll also point out that the FoST has a notoriously poor turning radius (about the same as our single Cab Ram truck); the FiST easily beats it in this respect.

Anyway, thought some of you might find this write up interesting! Also, don't get defensive, I love my FiST and I can't wait to start digging into it. Heck, it's why we got it! The wife was adamant that our FoST was staying stock!
First off, It’s great to come on here and get peoples different reviews on both of these cars.

I have no hate on the FoST, I was actually looking at them last year before deciding on the FiST. The mileage was a no brainer for me because of driving it 400 miles a week. I really had a tough decision to make on buying something new that got really good mileage and is fun to drive. That’s how I ended up with this car.

My experience with driving both these cars and pushing them hard was at the Ford ST Octane Academy. The track they had was not much of straight on track but tons of curves which was tough for someone never driving on one. The Fiesta in my option was easier to control going hard around corners. I did like power of the FoST, I thought it did well on the figure 8’s around cones.

well you seem to always want to have the last word and like I said earlier you won’t listen to anything that does not agree with your own assessment whereas you seem to be trying to put words in my mouth. I did not shit on the FoST I did not say it was a piece of shit , I did not say it was a bad car.
As for the challenge it does not have to be my car there are people in our group with stock FiSTs. That does not matter as you would just find a reason to try and invalidate it.
I suggest you look in the mirror because you are pretty much doing everything you are accusing me and others on this forum of doing.

I really have nothing more to say to you I was very cordial in my last post and you just completely ignored it and came out swinging.

I just laughed, and he was trying to goad me into letting him drive it, and I shut that down quickly. I have no desire for some dickweed to thrash my ride.

If the fost is better in your opinion that's fine. Go to the fost forums and have a blast. You did join this forum in hope of learning how to mod and have fun in the fist right? 1 of Your posts should not be, hey guys the fist sucks in comparison to the fost! Why is that? In the other 2 threads you started ppl helped you with your questions no problem. If you're on a fist forum talking down on the car a lil bit ppl are going to react a lil hasty and defensive. Its expected. I imagine the same exact thing would happen on the fost forums and I said, Hey I have a fors and said the fost was just so damn underwhelming. What's with the hype man? This more expensive more powerful car is better why is this?
